Tablet PCs are compact, ultra-portable entertainment devices that let you read email, surf the Internet, read eBooks, view photos, play games, listen to music and watch video files. Most tablets are based on a smaller operating system, which allows you to purchase and download additional applications from supported stores. Tablet PCs do not have a CD/DVD drive. Tablet PCs function as a secondary device for casual entertainment purposes, and are not meant to replace a computer. They are ideal for use around the home and on the go with WiFi or 3-4G mobile broadband connections (pay as you go, contract may be required for service).

I am currently a full time college student and full time employee and I need to have flexibility and the Nextbook allows me to take my work with me any where I go! I love the key board attachment. I would recommend this to anyone even if you are not using it for school purposes and just want a handy light weight computer to use on the go!
The device is about 1/2 inch thick, not 2 inches thick like the description said. Which is fine. It has a fully functional keyboard with right and left click on the mouse pad and you have a fully functional tablet with all the slide finger functionality. Windows 8.1. Whoa! It's taken me a few days to get used to this version of windows. I really didn't think I would like it at first... but after having used it daily for the past couple days I'm getting the hang of it. This tablet lets you do most of what you would normally use windows for and it comes loaded with apps under the "start" menu. Most of which I really don't need nor want. I uninstalled them. I found the 90% of the apps are all fluff and really don't do much for the user. The wireless works fine and once I got my browser of choice on there I can surf and play hulu, amazon, netflix from the browser just fine without some memory stealing app. Battery time is pretty good, once you realize that wireless needs to be shut down when you close your book. So far I get about 6 hours per charge. So far I am very pleased with these little guys.
Just bought 2 of these NextBooks today. I am quite amazed for the price. Of course it is not a Surface pro with all the gigs of ram and i5 processor. For $179.00, you get a 10" screen that is pretty good at 1280 x 800, on a tablet. The full Windows 8.1 OS, not just windows RT. You basically get a full blown computer that does exactly what windows does on a desktop. You get 32 GB of storage, which is about 28 GB after the OS takes about 4 GB. Optional 64 GB additional SD card slot. Plenty of storage. Don't forget about the free storage you get with OneDrive. Yes this is a tablet, but comes with a detachable keyboard with a touch pad that is actually pretty sturdy to me. Feels strong and built well when attached. When you close the keyboard with the tablet, it looks and feels like they were meant to be a laptop. small, thin and stable together. With a processor clocked at 1.83 GHz, seems slow right? lol well it really isn't, This Intel is an Atom Z3735G Quad-Core processor. it gets the job done. Haven't experienced an lag or stutter yet. I came from a MacBook Pro, which was really under used. I use the chrome browser, download movies and music, stream videos, and play online poker. so yes, it does support all the third party apps that any other Windows computers do, like iTunes, media players, Flash, my poker client software, and even my currency trading client software. which is actually the most intensive software I run. I don't do any graphic intensive tasks so it works very well for me. It does only have a 1 gig RAM, but I really can't tell. Then again I usually close my apps after I am done with them. Handles multitasking well. Might not recommend opening like 15 things at once, but give it a try and decide for yourself. Did I mention that I can also run my university's test proctoring software flawlessly. Everything I need to do, it does. Please mind that I don't do video editing and software developing, so don't waster your time if that is what you're looking for. I read other reviews before buying, but there weren't much out there since this is relatively new. That why I decided to write my own. When you do find other reviews out there, I recommend trying it for your self, you might be surprised. I found that a lot of the reviews I have read were from people who do have one, never tried one and experienced it for themselves. They are simply judging by its price and specs. That's why I decided to try it for myself. Think about it, for $179, why not try it, if it does what you need it to do, it's an amazing deal, if it doesn't take it back. simple. Like I said, I bought 2 of these tablets for my wife and myself. we love them. She users hers for watching movies with our 2 year old, Netflix and such, cooking recipes, and playing games on Pogo. Well this was longer than expected, but I was really impressed and figured I would give it a fair chance, especially with the holidays coming. Have fun shopping and decide for your self.
Folks, I can't believe the value packed into this product. I have owned numerous laptops, tablets, net-books, notebooks, desk top computers, and all-in-one computers. This Nextbook 10.1 Windows 8.1 Intel quad core 2-in-1 Tablet/Notebook is a excellent buy! Usually, at this price point most units are junk. This touchscreen tablet is extremely fast with very good resolution! The detachable pogo keyboard is excellent. It feels very solid! The tablet also has a great feel. Unfortunately, the camera's, speakers, and battery life could be better. However, the included one year subscription to Microsoft Office 2013 is a major plus. I highly recommend the Nextbook 10.1 Intel Quad Core 2-in-1 Windows 8.1 Tablet/Notebook. Priced at only $179.00, it's unquestionably the most "bang for the buck" on the market today!
After reading all the reviews on here and checking this tablet out on other sites I decided to get one and I'm glad I did. I love this little machine! I think the problem that some of the reviewers here have is that they had the wrong expectations for this tablet. If you are looking for a high end laptop or anything better than a mid-range tablet you should just stop here because this is not what you are looking for. This tablet (and I stress that it is a tablet first) is geared towards the casual user who is looking to check their email, look at social media, stream movies etc. With that expectation I don't see how you could go wrong with this device. In the context of a tablet I challenge you to find another mid-range device that bring this much to the table. I am very happy with my purchase and I encourage you to give it a shot but keep in mind what you want to get out of it.
I'm very please with my purchase, this little laptop/tablet is faster than what I expected, I can download books from my kindle, my music too and I can watch my movies, etc. I can use the Word and Excel and print my jobs easily. I do recommend this Nextbook 10'1"
I purchased this tablet yesterday, and I have been using it quite a bit. I won't go into windows, much, because this tablet makes the same compromises that all windows 8.1 tablets make. It's a little bit of a split personality, and most apps will need to be ran from the desktop mode. I have been impressed with the build quality, the battery life, and the general performance of the device. This would be a great tablet for a student that needed office functionality, and a decent keyboard to take notes on. The ability to run full windows is nice, if you need that. It's really meant for a more advanced user, however. I might think twice before handing it to a young child. It is a full windows computer, so it requires a little more know-how to operate.
So, in one week I bought three of these things. If you choose to buy one, do yourself a favor, and call the store you're thinking of buying one (or several) from; this is because the store may have one listed as being in inventory, but that one will likely be the display model, AND YOU DO NOT WANT THE DISPLAY MODEL. That being said, this is a great device. It is the full Windows 8.1 Operating System, which will be upgradeable in mid-2015 when Microsoft releases Windows 10 for free. It is responsive, solidly built, and works with both the included keyboard and touchscreen equally well. The touchscreen is the size of a large iPad or Samsung Galaxy (10 inches), and supports multiple touches at once. The keyboard also acts as a shell/shield for the screen when it is closed, like a laptop/notebook, but much more solid. I know it isn't, but this thing feels bulletproof. It is heavy altogether...consider getting a bag for it if you plan on moving it around a lot. Also, the internal storage is 32 GB. That's a good starting point, but you will probably want to bump it up by getting an additional 64 GB MicroSDXC card. Another consideration, if you want more storage than that, is that this device does have a microUSB port (think of a cell phone charger port, same size)...which means that you can get an external Hard Drive of pretty much any size to help with the storage, you'll just need to make sure to have an adapter to go into the "micro" port. So, that information being covered, this is not a full-blown workstation PC. It is awesome for what it does though, which is being a great portable PC. As I said before, this has Windows 8.1. So anything you use on Windows 8.1 is yours to use on this device. If you have a Microsoft/Live/Xbox/MSN account, you can set it up on this and be right into your personal files, programs, etc. If it works on Windows, it works here. There is no CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive...this is a product of/for the digital era. It does have a MicroHDMI port, though and will work with any existing wi-fi setup. My wife loves it, my inlaws love both of theirs, and this is the kind of device that Windows 8 was designed for...combination touch and keyboard. I fully reccomend it, and fooling with these units has me looking forward to Windows 10...and I was a hardcore Windows 7 PC Gamer. Worth the price, these are currently nearly double this price on competitor sites right now. Get it, take a deep breath when you don't know something, and take it easy. It's just a PC, but it is worth passing out of the learning curves if you have any. Highly reccomended.
I love this electronic. It's excellent for on the go people like me. My only wish is to Have a cover that fits both the key board and tablet.
So, i purchased a Nextbook in early December 2014. I got it all set up. When I had a meeting coming up where I was going to take minutes; I charged it up for 8 hours while I was at work so I would have enough battery life to get me through the meeting. Get to the meeting, turned it on and got ready to start taking notes and up pops a 'low battery warning'. What?!?! Come to find out the charging mechanism was broken...so I sent it in (at my expense). It took over 2 weeks to get it back. Was excited because I was leaving town and wanted to take the Nextbook with me. Lo and behold, the Nextbook crashes. So, I e-mail them again telling them my frustration. They agree to pay for shipping (standard shipping) and were going to replace it. They had to get 'approval' first which further delayed getting a new Nextbook. I finally get it (it was on backorder and I had to wait for them to get some more). I get it and started setting it up and it crashes....the brand new one! AUGH!! So I contact them again. They tell me they will pay to have it shipped; but send me a standard label (so I paid again to have it shipped). Shipped it back. Over 2 weeks later they confirm they received the defective product and, lo and behold, backorder again....won't see a new one until JUNE! Won't refund and, I pull up Walmart.com and THEY actually have Nextbooks available! Really? This is so frustrating as I cannot get a refund; I'm out another $70 bucks shipping the products back and forth and it has been six months; going to be into the 7th month before I even get a chace to use the product; which I hope this time works!
