Spanning wide-angle to super-telephoto, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR from Nikon is an ideal single-lens solution for photographing in a wide variety of situations. Designed for DX-format cameras, this 27-450mm equivalent zoom features an advanced optical design comprising both aspherical and extra-low dispersion glasses, which help to reduce aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range for notable clarity and sharpness. A Super Integrated Coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting when working in backlit or harsh lighting conditions. Benefitting the optics is a four-stop-effective VR image stabilization system, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake to produce sharper handheld imagery. Additionally, a Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet autofocus performance along with a full-time manual focus override.

Pros: Love this lens! Works with my entry level D3100 to make both close up and zoom pictures look like they were taken by a professional. It's heavy, but I only need to carry the one lens for everyday use. Takes awesome close ups and action shots of kids playing sports from afar. The uv lens cover is a must-large lens makes for more surface area to scratch! Great price with bonus gifts and shipping was fast. Cons: Heavy, but so are two lenses and a bag.

Pros: All In One No Changing, Takes great photos, Long distance Cons: It's heavy Other thoughts: I use this lens for every thing. I was tired of having to switch lens for different photos. This one does long distance and close up. The only thing is that it is very heavy, but most high end lens are heavy.

Pros: Improved Vr, Maximum Focal Length, Little Or No Zoom Creep, Relatively fast Cons: Price, a bit heavy Other thoughts: Nice improvement over the 18 - 200 mm zoom. Heavier, but not unwieldy. No loss in lens speed from the 18 - 200 mm zoom. The VR feature helps keep a sharp image at the maximum focal length. If you can only have one lens, this is the one to have.
While the lens itself has great reviews I can't support buying it from Walmart or their supplier. The box came heavily damaged without any packing support to keep it from bouncing around inside the outer cardboard box. Also the lens box itself was clearly used with the nikon seal broken and internal materials clearly hastily shoved back in. If I'm paying this much for something I kinda expect it to be new...
