Key Features and Benefits: Capture every detail true to life The D7100 marks an exciting advancement in image quality for high-resolution DX-format cameras. Nikon specially designed its 24.1-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor without using an optical low pass filter (OLPF), resulting in the purest, sharpest images using D7100's DX-format CMOS sensor. Speed and precision in harmony When the action speeds up, fire a blazing fast 6 frames per second continuously for up to 100 shots. Building on the acclaimed autofocus system from the D300s, the D7100 uses 51 focus points, including 15 cross-type sensors for detecting both vertical and horizontal contrast variations, to achieve fast, precise focus. The central cross-type sensor works all the way down to f/8, a huge advantage when using compatible teleconverters. At the same time, a highly accurate 2016-pixel RGB sensor evaluates every scene, taking into account brightness, contrast, subject distance and color, for spot-on auto operations like Face-Priority and full-time autofocus during video capture. Create movies that amaze With full-time autofocus and manual exposure control during video recording, a built-in stereo microphone and an external stereo microphone jack, headphone and HDMI jacks, the D7100 achieves exceptional cinematic reproduction and quality. Dual SD card slots give you additional recording time, and a 60i function enables smooth playback on HDTVs or external monitors. Wow, what a camera. Built like a tank, and does everything you need to get great pro photos. You can use it on Auto mode and it will do a fine job. It has Scene modes that do a great job too. Then you can dive into it and do it your way for custom photos. I put a Nikon 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G on it and your ready to take on the world. The night shoots I got with my 50mm f/1.4G were the best yet. If you can't get good photos with this camera, then it's time to find a new hobby.
Absolutely worth the money.
camera has lots of great features. take a little time to find out all that is in the menus. this camera has the abilty of photographing any to for a simple portait to a beautiful sunset. It just takes a little time to understand all functions
This camera is awesome....still figuring it out all the fun stuff...highly recommend this camera AND getting i thru Walmart.
I am a natural light newborn photographer at a hospital and needed to purchase a new camera for my job. After a lot of research I decided to go with this one. I couldn't beat the quality or the price. I have now had it for a few days and really enjoy it. There was a slight learning curve when compared to my other and it's not necessarily one I'd recommend for beginners just starting out. It does great in the low light rooms I shoot in and the clarity is good.
I was looking to upgrade my D5100 and this was just the ticket. The 1.3x crop is helpful when shooting wildlife and any other time you want to speed up the fps.
No Problems Professional in all ways!
Pros: Not that much different than the latest version D7200 but there is a significant price advantage. The camera is an excellent choice, especially for the mid-level user as it has all the features that are necessary for creating high grade photographs. This choice is for someone who is becoming more serious about producing photographs vs. snap-shots. It is also very reliable in full-automatic mode and produces fine point-and-shoot picts. if and when a quick shot is needed or you hand the camera off to someone at your Holiday party. Cons: Larger / heavier than a typical point-and-shoot camera that doesn't have the capability to change lenses or the ability to shoot in more advanced modes. This one won't fit in your pocket but it's not made for that. When you're ready to move up, give this Nikon or it's younger sibling (D7200) solid consideration.
I bought this online, and got it in the mail. I took it to my daughter's birthday party and what I got were a combo of actual color and yellow tinted photographs. I brought it home and tested it by adjusting all settings, etc but it still had yellow tint in the photos. I'm a professional photographer, so if you tell yourself, he may have not adjusted the setting a correctly....not true. I ended up returning it and got a full refund. I turned around and ended up buying the Nikon D800 which I LOVE!
I purchased this camera thinking it was a legitimate Nikon camera with a Nikon warranty. It was a repackaged grey market camera with no warranty. I have just shipped it back to the 3rd party supplier (cost: $13.50). Hopefully I will get my original investment back. Next time I will go through a reputable supplier like Amazon.
