The ChiaoGoo Nostepinne (old Norwegian hand tool, which translates to Nest Stick) can do the job -- without changing the twist of the yarn. It is portable and quite easy to use. Approximately 11 inches (28 cm) long, this tool has a nice smooth finish but not too smooth. Long enough to wind a large ball of worsted or even chunky yarn. The handle has loop through it so that you can hang the tool on a peg.

Very easy to use even for beginners! If you struggle understanding the directions on the card, I recommend watching YouTube for anyone that are visual learners! Takes some time getting used to the wrist movements, but overall I love using mine.
