This product is exceptional, it is flavorless so it is expected to be bitter (as are all bcaa flavorless powders) it also does not mix well with water alone because LEUCINE IS HYDROPHOBIC (This is aimed toward the review saying it didn't mix well, might want to research your supplements a little better next time.) Chances are if you order a flavorless, basic bcaa powder it will not mix well...this is a good thing.
Here is how I get around the bitter taste issue with this product. I drink 6 oz. daily of dark chocolate almond milk. I add 1 heaping teaspoon of the branched chain amino acid powder to the milk and use a small whisk to incorporate. While not perfect, it is superior to using a regular spoon. The health benefits of this product make it worth my while to tolerate this inconvience. My doctor is very delighted that I have added this product to my supplement routine. I would have given this product a higher rating for effectiveness but I began using it just a few weeks ago and am awaiting routine blood work. I do wish this product came in either capsule or tablet form.
It's well established that branched chain amino acids (particularly leucine) stimulate protein synthesis, and might do so to a greater extent than a normal protein on its own. BCAAs also increase synthesis of the cellular machinery responsible for carrying out the process of protein synthesis. Thus, BCAAs not only increase the RATE of protein synthesis, but they also increase the cell's CAPACITY for protein synthesis! BCAAs also work in your favor by reducing the rate of protein breakdown. They do this (primarily) by decreasing the activity of the components of the protein breakdown pathway, and also by decreasing the expression of several complexes involved in protein breakdown
All powdered BCAA'S have a bad taste, but Now foods has really done a good job taking that nasty taste to a managing level. Thanks Now Foods for another great product!
there are a lot of bodybuilding supps out there, making all kinds of wild claims. Now is a brand I trust, great quality, decent price. I take BCAAs with creatine as my pre-workout (fasted) drink. Gives good energy, good for the muscles.
Now product's are the best, plus family owned.
Like any other BCAA powder it doesn't mix well so don't expect it to. It has a slightly bitter taste but not too bad. I didn't want something that contain artificial colors and sweeteners that the mixes contain (which do mix better). I use it for recovery not because it tastes good so just be realistic.
someone said this didn't taste to bad, probably had fried tastebuds from doing this stuff for long time. this stuff doesn't mix at all and tastes about as bad as any of this stuff does, but boy o boy does it work, even for an old man. just have to get past yuk factor. been mixing with chocolate milk to help with taste. recommend pills if you cant handle it.
Unless one is a chemist or see results ( I do not see any results) how can I tell. I use this and hope for the best. All i can say it would not make me scik in the short term. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This product is NOT vegan. Real slick lettering. Now I'm going to triple check the pea powder amino acids listed on the back I have been ordering for years. If you are a plant-based connoisseur, do NOT purchase this product. BAA'S are made from human hair and duck feathers etc.
