I originally had a Rift I bought off a friend and replaced it with the Rift S. Holy crud is the difference apparent. 3rd party reviews call it a downgrade but don't be fooled. The lenses are clearer, the fit better, and the lack of needing stations to track your moves means you don't have to have 5 ports on your PC just to make it work. This is the kind of setup I can see becoming a standard of VR gaming that allows everyone to get into it.
Facebook. I mean seriously, Facebook is the worst thing to ever happen to the internet. Otherwise the headset is absolutely fantastic, blows away all my expectations. Comfortable, can game for a few hours without getting tired (my legs feel more tired than my head, in other words), it took a bit getting used to, but you should expect that. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Never used a VR set of any kind before and I am very pleased with the Oculus Rift S. Not crazy about the Facebook integration but I do appreciate how simple it was to set up and how responsive everything feels. I especially like that I can see my real environment when outside of the play zone.
I use and enjoy the Rift S everyday. I do wish the resolution was better and the start-up procedure was "cleaner". I find it necessary to unplug the headset after every use or it will not restart. I'd heard about this issue and purchased extender cords for the PC. I've not tried the Quest 2 units but, given the opportunity, would like to compare and make a final recommendation.
Hello I have the Rift S and overall it's a pretty nice headset for PC gamers I'd say if you are just getting into VR this is a really nice headset to get into before buying something large and huge in VR. This Headset has been great for my past experiences on VR games that I play. The only issues that I've been having are tracking issues due to the fact that the Rift S does not have other cameras to track it, the Rift S still does a pretty decent job at keeping you in games. So I'd say if you are a starting to join the VR world start with a Rift S than move your way up from there!
I love the headset. It's got great quality. But the controllers did not get enough love. I can't play some games because of the vibration causing controller delay. I have been able to disable hactics on some games and it runs great after that but some games I can't even touch. This needs figured out. Not even steamVR settings work for the hactics
Great starter vr headset. Very comfortable and super easy setup process. The only reason it is not all five stars for me is the issue with the the display port and usb port not being detected some times. The I found to fix this is to do the setup process again. other than that its a good headset.
Decent headset, but a frustrating experience. Lack of manual ipd settings and constantly needing to mess with audio settings to play with friends makes this a constant struggle to get comfortable while trying to play for a little bit. And all this is before I even start to clean the lenses.
From literally DAY ONE of owning this headset, al the way until now (roughly 5 months later) I have only had problems. Here a just a few: - The headset itself consistently refuses to connect even after reconnecting wires - It loses tracking of the controllers every hour of use, and causes static when using Passthrough - The foam lining of the face shield started coming off within a month of little use - The display often has a white and blue border like the screens are broken - Occasionally says that the headset is "working perfectly" yet shows only a black screen when put on And that is just to name a few. Do not buy this product, as it seems that you WILL have constant problems.
I lost my Facebook account due to someone stealing it. I had to set up a new Facebook account just to use this thing. Now if someone steals this one with purchases attached I now know that nothing will be done about it. You can't have 0 tech support for accounts that you require to make purchases.
