I bought this recorder to replace an older Olympus (WS200) because I wanted more memory. Boy, this one has it, and the sound is fantastic! The sound is picked up clearly from across the room, and yet, when I use it to record my barbershop quartet, or my chorus, the sound does not get distorted. The fact that you can use it to listen to your MP3's as well is just another bonus. Great product!
My wife uses it to dictate notes to herself and finds it very satisfactory and usefull. She is not particularly inclined to intuitive use of new devices, so I assume it is very easy to use.
I REALLY LIKE THIS OLYMPUS VOICE RECORDER. I SING IN THREE DIFFERENT CHOIR. I RECORD EACH REHEARSAL. THIS IS BETTER THAN MY TAPE RECORDER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO PEOPLE WHO RECORD THEIR VOICE FOR MUSIC OR OTHER THINGS. FOR EXAMPLE: I RECORD MY PREACHER SERMON. THAT CAN OUT SO CLEAR. I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING SHE SAID. THE NOISE FILTER ON THIS PRODUCT WORK VERY WELL. IT FILTER OUT THE SURROUND NOISE. MY TAPE RECORDER DID NOT DO THIS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.
I have to record the professors at the college. I sat in the front row and recorded and was able to hear well. However, it was even better quality when I put it on the podium where the professor was at. Once you put earphones on to listen to it its even better. Overall....great. Did the job.
This is a great product. I am a bit baffled by the previous review as it does not seem to correlate with this product. This is not a dictation recorder, and is not advertised to be. It does not have or use a USB cord... the manufacturer description states: The USB Direct design makes it easy to transfer your files over to your PC, just plug the recorder right into your computer for fast downloads – no cables needed. You can recharge its battery using the USB connection of your computer. Maybe they entered their review for the incorrect item? This is a great product.
This recorder is small, compact and has a better clearity than the one before. This 2nd generation unit is much better because you do not have to slide it out of the case and plug the whole unit in like before and the cleaity is great.
The only thing I didn't count on was the sensitivity of the microphone. You should keep the device to a certain distance away from your mouth in order to avoid distortion. Aside from that, it is a great little device to keep close and be able to maintain a record of whatever need you have.
how impressive this tiny item is! i purchased it for the voice recording feature- however now i'm in love with the mp3 capabilities - iv had it 2 days & have already loaded 300+ songs :)It's small convienent & the sound quality without the aid of additional speakers is a plus! The only reason i gave it a 9 instaed of a 10 is due to the fact that there was no accessory to listen to it in your car available from Dell & i will have to buy it seperately... Ease of use is key also- good buy at a great price!
recording music is easy with internal mics, playback sound is a little tinny.i did not try the external mic option. instruction book is a little cryptic. but the unit is menu driven and fairly easy to learn. it has adjustments for recording in the menus. not bad!
We purchased several of these units for dication at work and plan to return them even before we start dictating. These are the most illogically designed recorders! No on-off button, a USB cord only 12" long, complicated charging (not just plug in), and very complicated "instruction" manual that is not very helpful and NOT reader-friendly, and it comes with NO software so, if you don't already have Olympus software, you have to go online to be able to download your dictation. This will not do. We are very unhappy. Just goes to show you don't always get what you pay for.
