I looked at more expensive models, but this was all he wanted in a weather station.
The city of Farmington Missouri gets it weather briefing from Fredricktown and they get it from St. Louis Missouri. That is no longer true now. The airports assign weather spotters to report the information on a timely basis. This is a good instrument to begin with.
Give this product two days to calculate the proper information. This product is extremely helpful if you are an avid golfer and or you live in an extremely cold climate 5 months out of the year. Just make sure you have a good straight contact between the outside location and inside location. That is probably the most important thing on this weather instrument. I am very very happy with this product
I bought this unit to replace an older GE version that stopped functioning correctly. This weather monitoring unit was easy to set up and is extremely accurate. It has matched our local temperature, humidity and baro pressure accurately against the local station. I highly recommend this if you want a simple to use indicator. The atomic clock feature is also an added plus.
I've had two of the older 'green and gold' weather stations forever and love them ... one in the house and one in the travel trailer for camping/hunting where NWS radio is unavailable. I ordered two more for replacements (if necessary) and gifts. These new 'black' ones do not have backlights like the older ones and that is disappointing. Otherwise, they are everything you really need and they work very well. Strangely, when you reset your altitude, the unit takes several minues to adjust the barametric pressure ... the old one updated immediately.
Black trim around screen too thick. Thin frame would be better. Larger screen and digits even better. Back light would make viewing easire. Just got it. We'll see how it does.
I had one of these before. The reason I ordered a new one is the outdoor reader quit working. Reason I do not like this oner is because I connot mount it on the wall like my older one. ZIs ok because my old one reads the singal off m new reader. So now have 2 that work.
