We have a problem with mice in our shed, and our property. We have tried several other brands of trap, but they turned out to be not reliable, they either dont set after a while, or dont snap. This one is good everytime. There was a time when we got two With one snap.
My husband purchased several of the press 'n set traps a few weeks back. They worked so well, we purchased a few additional sets. They are very easy to operate and work incredibly well. The unexpected bonus, the trap caught a baby rattlesnake! Somehow a rattler made it's way into our garage. When my husband came home the other day, he opened the garage door and discovered a baby rattlesnake caught in one of the press 'n set mouse traps! Feeling very thankful!
Previously had only used the Victor style wood base traps. Mice gotten to the point where they became very good at stealing bait(peanut butter) without setting off the trap. Tried these for the first time last week with instant success. Not sure about other reviewers problems with live catches, weak springs, etc. Perhaps traps have been beefed up? Have used multiple times with success. Yes, a little pricier than other traps, but they work.
2 weeks ago my husband and I spotted a mouse for the first time in our apartment. We were disgusted and annoyed!! We bought some rodent poison and laid out come glue traps and caught nothing! We were tired of not being able watch tv past 10pm without seeing a mouse run across the living room and feeling uncomfortable in our own home!! It literally ruined our nights and we went to bed annoyed every night. We got maintenance to seal off 3 holes that they found where mice can enter from and thought that would solve our problem since they were coming in due to the change in weather. Still, we saw a mouse that same night and saw droppings in our kitchen!!! Turns out we sealed off the place and they couldn't get out! FINALLY, I researched the best mouse traps and came across this. I went to home depot and bought them yesterday. Last night we put out 6 of them since we were sure we had two mice (based on the fact we had seen two different colors and sizes). We put them out with peanut butter and went into our bedroom at 10:15pm. We heard the first trap snap at 10:25 pm!!! It felt like such a relief!!!! Then we woke up to another one caught in another trap!!! Both mice gone in one night!!!!! SOOOOO Relieved and happy!! Feels like such a great accomplishment!!! We can go back to movie nights and feeling comfortable in our home!! WIN!
Before I found this great new design, I used the old wooden-based traps but they are hard to set and the wire can snap (hard) before you put the trap in place. This Press n Set is easy to set and stays set reliably. It is easy to pick up when it has been tripped and releasing the dead mouse is a clean, quick job. I have re-used my traps for almost a year now, in my attic, and have been very satisfied with the quality and design.
Just starting using the Press 'N Set traps after finding droppings in an area despite having a competitive $100 electric mouse kill-box. Two days in a row the Press 'N Set caught a mouse while the electric box had none. Both were baited with peanut butter. Simply put - this trap work! Similar to other reviews, I wish there was an easy (sanitary) way to make this multi-use since the traps are not exactly inexpensive.
I've used these traps outdoors, under my deck for the infamous Deer mouse, carriers of the deadly hantavirus. Deer mice love peanut butter and it only takes a small amount to bring them into the trap. I've probably caught over 125 in 3 months with these traps, but have had to purchase 6-10 traps since the little plastic tabs that hold the jaw keeps breaking. the cost of catching one mouse and throwing them away is not cost effective, I didn't realize they are intended for a single use. I've only had 2 living catches.
I tried traditional mouse traps and sometimes they worked and other times they were sprung but didn't catch the mouse. I recently purchased two Home Defense Max Press'NSet Mouse Trap. I trapped and killed two mice the first night but one of the two traps was broken. The plastic hook that holds the trap open was broken on one of the traps rendering it unusable a second time. No doubt the traps catch and kill mice but customers might benefit from additional engineering on this mechanism. I would be willing to pay more for "a better mousetrap".
This trap seemed to be excellent in every way. Setting the trap without your fingers being exposed and placing on the ground without misfiring is really nice. The activation pad and capture jaws and spring also incredible. The product only caught 4 mice before it failed in less than 1 week.
We have purchased at least 6 of the 'Press N Set' mouse traps and most have failed in catching a mouse. Very frustrating. One or two caught a mouse then failed working also. Will not purchase another Ortho mouse trap, and should certainly get our money back.
