I was desperately looking for the best travel carry-on backpack available on the market. I read all the reviews on all backpacks and finally ended up with the amazing Osprey Farpoint 40. No doubt, this was the one ! This reliable piece of equipment was my everyday buddy for almost 5 months in Southeast Asia and I surely do not regret my choice. This backpack will follow me on every single adventure in the future and I will never replace it for another brand or model. This is the perfect travel companion end of the story !
To travel as a couple we got the Farpoint and Fairview 40. Super easy to pack. The support structure spreads the weight out so effectively they're very comfortable. Others talked about the laptop sleeve being problematic but we don't take one with us so I can't speak to that. Also we didn't experience the water bottle difficulties others did. We put the bottle of the water bottle in the mesh and ran the compression strap through the top of the bottle and it worked very well. The only downside we saw was that the material on the back keeps you pretty warm and sweaty backs are frequent- but I think that's true of most packs. Love these backpacks! We're excited to keep using them.
I was looking for a travel backpack for some time, first was looking for wheeled backpacks but found it kind of not being practical for me, i do quiet a bit of business and leisure travel a year (5-8 times) and well aware of a good backpack or carry-on pros & cons. finally i came to decide between this backpack and eagle creek 40 liter one and chose this, really like it.
Went to Vietnam for 2 weeks with this bag and looked for something that could go anywhere and travel fast, as well as meet carryon requirements. Having gone 25k+ miles over 7 planes, 5 cars and 2 scooters, I can safely say this is the best carryon bag i've owned and helped me focus on a minimalist approach to travel. Never been excited for a pack as much as this one. Got a simple combo lock that happened to fit through BOTH lockable zippers at once, so double win. I also own an Aether 70 for backpacking, so I understand utility vs comfort, heavy vs light load, etc etc. Don't normally write reviews online, but i felt this was warranted. Great pack!
I bought this bag for a 4 month backpacking trip through SE Asia. I'm about a month in and so far this bag has been everything that I need it to be! My only downside is that it doesn't meet the carry-on size for AirAsia, a low-cost carrier in the region. It does fit carry-on size for Delta Airlines however so I can't really complain. I would recommend both this pack and Osprey products in general to everyone who needs a reliable pack.
I really, really like this pack. I've had mine for 1.5 years and have probably spent about 40 nights traveling during that time by plane, train, taxi, and foot. The bag has held up great overtime with very minimal signs of wear. I can fit about 4-5 days worth cold-weather clothes in packing cubes this bag, along with an extra pair of shoes and all other toiletries, snacks, and whatnot. On trips longer than that, I just do laundry. If I could make one change, it would be better inner organization pockets. My packing cubes help, but the front pocket becomes a major black hole. I do recommend trying this bag on. I'm a medium frame 5'5 woman, and the s/m Farpoint fits me much better than the women's specific version. The same pack fits my 5'11 husband.
Just right size for my needs for traveling,I always take it carry on,have not checked it traveling Asia on 6-8wk trips, I just pack what I need, don't purchase the beautiful junk much anymore, but made room for 1kg of black peppercorns from Malaysia on way home one trip. Best travel pack I have ever owned, highly recommend this one for some one that travels with the essentials.
I bought this bag for a round the world trip with my boyfriend. I bought him the same bag for the trip because it was so good. We've saved hundreds of Euros on flights because these bags fit as hand luggage on all flights. Not only that, 3 months into my trip I broke my foot and had to use two crutches for 6 weeks. The bag was so well fitted and neat that I was actually able to carry it with my two crutches no problem!
My partner and I bought these packs over 2 years ago now. They still look brand new, despite using them quite a lot. We have the large size (42 Litres). This size is perfect for us, and we intend on using them when we travel full time. I only have a few issues with this bag. 1. The laptop compartment is at the front of the bag. This changes how the weight is distributed. It should be against your back. 2. The water bottle holders at the front are pretty useless. If your bag isn't completely full, you can use them. But with the straps going over the top, it's still not very convenient or secure. 3. I wish there were more compartments for little pieces. Apart from those issues, I love these bags and do recommend them.
Before hiking the Camino for two weeks last month, I researched travel packs extensively. This one is the best, even with the Cons I have listed. Other reviewers noted the water bottle issue. Packing with two medium cubes really helped keeping my pack organized. Four and a half stars!
