This Oster blender was incredibly easy to set up and figure out. The buttons are clearly labeled to show you just what you'll be getting. My personal favorite is the extract button, which Oster tells you is a higher blend for smoothies. You have seven options and they are very helpful when it comes to figuring out just what you need for the type of food you're looking to whip up! At first I had trouble with the pouring, felt like I was constantly making a mess. But once I used the blender several times, the mess was just me. It's a wonderful blender. I recommend it. I recently replaced my 18 year old Oster blender and was so happy to find one with the same sturdy construction, glass pitcher and easy to clean parts. I am able to make my morning smoothie with a single "Smoothie" button and find this blender is much quieter than the older model. Bonus is the old chopper attachment fits the new model.
I got this for Christmas (2020) love it. Haven't use it yet but it's what I wanted for Christmas.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first impression of the oster series 8 right out of the box was wow, it felt properly put together, the glass pitcher was perfect. I have been using mine for about 3 weeks now and have had some great results. I was able to crush ice for frozen drinks in a breeze, also chop up veggies in a snap. Since the blade easily comes out of the machine I was able to wash and clean the product in a snap. The different speeds and setting they have are also nice compared to some other blenders that just have a fast and slow speed. Overall I would recommend this blender to anyone who needs a great quality machine which will get the job done!
The blender works great! I like the heavy duty glass pitcher, the all metal drive and powerful motor. I like that the blades reach down low to make she it blends everything at the bottom. It's simple to use with the nice push button speeds. A few of the things I don't like are that it is a bit bulky, and with great power comes great noise. I know blenders are a noisy kitchen tool, but this one seems louder than other blenders I've used before. Other than that, it works great and I'd recommend one. For the price point of this blender, it provides a lot of power and blending options. I was able to efficiently make my smoothies, thick milkshakes, nut and seed milks, pestos and sauces with this. The differing blending options are great for differing needs and it responds accordingly. The pulse was especially useful for when I really needed to pulverize and blend up a lot of heartier ingredients. I would definitely continue using this for most of my home cooking needs. The price point to effective blending ratio makes this one of the options on the market I've seen. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I think the Oster Classic Series 8 Speed Blender is a good basic blender. It is able to blend pretty well but I did find that when I would blend something like flour with a liquid the flour would stick to the sides so I'd need to stop it to scrap the sides and then would restart it to finish blending everything completely. I like the it has a feeder cap so I could add more liquid when blending a smoothie to get the right texture without having to stop it. The pulse function is also great too when blending something with ice. It's a bit big and bulky but was very easy to clean as the bottom and blade are able to come off- and it's also easy to put back together. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This blender is good to blend hot soups - the glass container is perfect for it. However, it struggles with frozen fruit despite having enough liquid (1 cup of frozen berries to 12 oz water should be plenty). Also, it takes a while to blend - need to leave it running for at least 5 mins, which will eventually pulverize the fruit, but the leafy greens are still not completely pulverized (greens such as "super greens" blend, parsley). I replaced it recently with a higher wattage blender, but will keep this one for blending soups. It's a good price. The cleanup is super quick too.
I bought this two weeks ago and have had an agonizing 15 minute experience trying to make a smoothie every single time. There's plenty of liquid, and the only other ingredient I add is frozen fruit. I have to stop it *literally* every 5 seconds, move the contents around with a spatula, and then start it again for it to even move. Eventually it'll get to smoothie consistency, but it's my least favorite part of my day. Would never recommend. I have no idea how it has so many good reviews.
Owned this less than 6 months and only for light protein shakes... first time I use it to make a smoothie and it started smoking. There was plenty of liquid in the blender and I did small intervals and followed everything by the book. Then, the unit started to smoke. I immediately stopped and unplugged it and ran it outside. A unit less than 6 months old should be able to make a smoothie with frozen fruit and milk without the motor smoking in any capacity. This thing is a danger to have. My recommendation is to NEVER buy this unit.
