I learned from someone long ago that it's a GREAT HABIT to write down "TO DO" lists each day/night on index cards and place in an index box for a reminder. This box is GREAT because you can put the current TO DO list right on top to refer to during the day. When it's been accomplished, the card goes to the back of the cards or remains forward until accomplished. It's a great "Running List" and history of when a task was accomplished. This system has worked for me for many years! At this price, I was able to stock up on the cards and box again for this year!
As described ~ filled need I had.
Having exhausted every local source looking for a new recipe box for my collection of 3x5 cards, I looked to the Internet. Other than some very expensive, custom made wooden boxes, these were the only NEW boxes I could find. Since I knew all of my cards would not fit into a single box, I purchased three of them so I could have one each for meats, veggies and sides, and desserts. For this reason, I wish there had been an option of different colors. From the photograph, I thought the sides of the box (when opened) angled down from back to front like my old box did. However, it is an illusion because the sides are actually straight across making it a bit more difficult to flip through the cards. Other than that, I can't complain because the price is reasonable and the shipping was free.
THE GOOD: Light weight, smooth finish -wont scratch surfaces, hold card securely at a good angle to read from. THE BAD: I have to pick it up to open it. Wish it came in COLORS!
I don't like the color. Red or Blue would have been much nicer. I don't like the big flat patch in front on the lid. I think it is ugly. But maybe it is for people who have more than one box so they can put a label on it to identify the contents. I wish the cards fit a little looser. They are quite tight. But I do like the price in comparison to other boxes. It is much stronger than one I bought from another supplier and threw away. I like the fact that there is a groove in the lid to hold a card in place. That feature is very convenient and much appreciated.
The card file is very nice. My only complaint is that it opens very easily. I was hoping that it would close securely so I could throw it in my backpack and not worry about it opening once inside. I definitely will not be able to do that without taking some type of action to improve how securely it closes.
Its a bit bulky for the amount of cards it holds and is not the cheapest index card holder available but does the job. Is exactly as it sounds.

It is tall enough for 3x5 cards, but not enough for the dividers! Come on, add the extra inch so it is actually fully useful. There needs to be room within the inner dimensions for the cards plus the dividers which themselves are 3-3/8 inch tall. The 3-5/8 external height is a hair too short.
