Great Boots

I love these boots. I wear them 6 days a week and work 10-11 hours in them in a harsh environment. Snow and cold in the winter and hot and wet in the summer. I also hike a lot and go to CO at least twice a year. They fit my foot well and are very comfortable. I am told Walmart is going to discontinue carrying this boot I am very disappointed.

Buying our third pair

My husband has narrow feet. He is a carpenter and does a lot of climbing at work and on slippery hills. He needed something with support. A few years ago, he walked into a Walmart looking for work boots and put on the Ozark Trail Bandy II boots and was instantly happy! He has worn out 2 pair now. By the time that the side seam comes loose, the soles are completely wore out, but he is waiting for his third pair in the mail. They are out of season (not available in the store in May), so I ordered them for him from the website. Only $2.94 for shipping.

Best Hiking Boot Ever

I honestly am shocked by any negative reviews about these boots. I bought a pair of Ozark Trail hiking boots - I'm not sure if they were exactly "Bandy II" boots but they look just like the picture - I bought them 4 years ago and I've hiked over 100 miles in them - up 17 fourteeners in Colorado -on rocks, in mud, snow, trail, etc. My wife bought me a pair of expensive Columbia hiking boots and they weren't as comfortable nor as durable or waterproof as these which I bought for about $30! Amazing. I can't say enough about them.

Putting Them To The Test

An experienced distance hiker, I am comparing these boots to Vasque's Sundowner and L.L. Bean's Cresta boots. I purchased five pair of the Bandy II hikers to use on this year's excursions and provide accurate assessments. Some have reported the boots to be great and others have claimed them to be terrible. The most commong complaint has been about a seam failure at the stitching. I have not experienced a failure during the break-in period, but we'll see. I can already recommend that the lacing hooks be be made slightly larger with radius edges to prevent cutting of the laces. Now go take a hike!

One flaw but still worth it!!

I discovered the Bandy II about four years ago in Wal-Mart and immediately bought a pair because they were comfortable and a great value. Unfortunately, after about 6 months of intense use in my work (I am a handyman working in all kinds of conditions), the seams over the instep started to unravel and the shoe started to lose it's integrity. I repaired those seams with Shoe Goo and continued to use them although I think the waterproofing was probably compromised in the process. Even though they are marketed as a trail shoe, they really do work as a heavy duty work shoe where a steel toe is not required. When they were finally worn out, I went back and bought a new pair hoping that the problem I had with the seam over the instep was an anomaly and now they would work better on the new pair. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I then had another person who also used this shoe tell me that he had the same problem. One of the reviews that I read, the reviewer felt because he had wide feet that is what caused the seams to come apart. That may be the case because my feet are wide across the the metatarsal arch area but narrow at the heel. I am currently on my fourth or fifth pair of Bandy II shoes and they have all had the same problem. I can understand that they are going to wear out but in this case, I would like the sole to wear out before the uppers fall apart. I feel like though it may be poor design to have stitching across the instep or they are using poor quality thread. This shoe is designed to be used in all kinds of conditions on the trail and that stitching should hold up much better than it does; either that or redesign the instep. Meanwhile I will continue to use them and hopefully, Ozark Trail will take my suggestions to heart.

NEED GOOD BOOTS

I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL PAIR OF THESE BOOTS OVER THE YEARS. THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE, BUT THE ONLY FAULT TO THESE BOOTS, IS THAT THE SIDE SEAMS BUST OUT ON THE SIDES A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER YOU HAVE WORN THEM. AGAIN, THESE BOOTS ARE VERY NICE LOOKING BOOTS, BUT THEY DON'T HOLD UP @ ALL. I DON'T EVEN GET MY BOOTS WET & THEY STILL BUST OUT ON THE SIDES. FIX THIS PROBLEM & I'LL BUY THESE BOOTS AGAIN. THANKS

Not Worth It

These boots run narrow. Still comfy, but snug. Within a couple of weeks the seam on the inside ball of one of them has split, thus eliminating any chance of remaining waterproof. I haven't used these for any serious hiking or rugged terrain, just walking around in a bit of snow and mud around work. If you need something sturdy, spend the extra money. These may work for you if all you do is walk to and from your car at work.

My husband bought these boots online about a month ago. When he tried them on he said they felt comfortable but wished they came in a wide size because they felt a little tight, but figured he break them in. He loved them for the first two weeks!! Couldn't say enough about how they felt and what a great product for such a low price. Unfortunately after two weeks they started ripping at the seams on each boot. His job requires him to "squat" down a lot. He does truck tires,, so they obviously didn't hold up to that. I think these boots might work better for somebody that has a job where they're not squatting down all the time,, therefore they wouldn't be flexing the boot as much. Also, it might help if these boots came in a wider size. He still says they are comfortable,, but now they have rips in the seam. So we're on a mission to find a new pair of boots.

I work outside, in all kinda of weather. Do alot of squatting and other tasks. These boot at first I thought were a great deal, and very comfy. 2 weeks after buying them, the seams on the sides split/ripped. I tried to have them sewn at a boot shop, only to have them rip the next time I squatted down again. They are very poorly designed. Not only did they tear/rip apart at the seam, if you are outside in the cold weather, the soles are some cheap composite plastic stuff, that when cold, cracks and splits. So not only did the seams on the sides rip out, the bottom sole split right along the spot of the seams. If you live where it is warm, and dont plan on doing anything physical with these, then they might work. Personally it was a waste of my money, and they are of a horrible design.. Would not recommend to anyone, and would never buy them again. You get what you pay for, cheap work boots, yep they are cheap. Spend the money and buy something that will last for awhile.
