I'm a fairly low tech person so this phone is perfect for me. I love the touch screen and ease of use. My only complaint is the product needs a more comprehensive users manual. I have a 17 year old granddaughter to help me though. :)
Nice low cost Smartphone. Quickly worked out any issues I had with it. The ringtones are set at a low volume and the vibrate does not last long. I was able to “fix” my phone by raising ringtone decibel levels using some mp3 software and an application that extends the length of time the phone vibrates. Search the web for two free programs, webOSquickinstall for your computer and Preware for your phone. These programs allow you to add over 1600 apps, games, themes, patches and kernels in addition to the app catalog. Very easy to change your phones appearance, functions and processing speed. Battery life is not great, but I'm at 60% when these supersize android phones are dying. My previous phones touchscreen was just a little larger than this so the small screen does not bother me. It does slow down your web browsing when you need to zoom in to be able to read the pages. I have almost always bought unlocked gsm phones because of the ability to move your contact list from phone to phone with the sim card. After setting up the Palm profile with my Gmail account, I was surprised to see that the phone had already imported my Google Voice contacts. Did not expect that since the phone is not an android. The phone is good for texting with the keyboard. Got tired of swype changing words when quickly sending texts. Call quality is good. Don't need a stylus with the capacitive touchscreen. Apps open fast with an overclocked phone. No problems with the lowest setting. On the highest setting, the phone was 50 degrees hotter and reset itself back to default settings during a battery charge. Most likely voided the warranty doing this but the phone operates faster opening apps and pictures. Pandora and Youtube work great on Wi-Fi. Also loaded my own music and videos. Good resolution for a small screen. VZ Navigator does not work if you do not activate your phone on Verizon. The preloaded Google maps application is no longer supported and does not load The fix is to open the app catalog and type “maps”. Install the free app “Maps HP” and you now have Bing maps installed but icon may still say Google maps You do not need to activate this phone on Verizon. This phone can activate on Pageplus and all functions will work. Pageplus is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that uses Verizon's network. Much like Virgin Mobile uses Sprint's network. They offer prepaid monthly and pay as you go plans for much less than Verizon. The tradeoff is Verizon does not provide them with large amounts of 3G data. You will save money if you have access to Wi-Fi. This phone will cost you a minimum of $95 a month on Verizon for prepaid. On Pageplus, for less than the price of Verizon's data package you can get 1200 minutes, 3000 texts and 100MB of data. If you choose to activate on Pageplus, this phone uses a lot of background data, so it is best to turn off 3G data. Do not update the phone unless your on Wi-Fi and you know data is switched off. If your on pay as you go data rates are 99 cents per MB. Syncing email for the first time and an update on the phone was 39MB. Happy that I added my monthly plan pin on the website as soon as I had a phone number. I leave Wi-Fi on all day. There does not seem to be any difference with the battery draining any faster as long as 3G is turned off.
The phone is good its unlock to a verizon or pageplus service, its not a sim card phone so do not buy it if thats what you were looking for also be aware that this is a smart phone so it does a lot with internet and you will need to have some touchscreen experience and also a new email so it dont just pick up contacts that you did not want to have in this phone.
Works with Page Plus. Either port number or pay 10 dollars to get a new number. Buy a prepaid plan card. Call contact number on site and enter in code. -Wanted a new phone, liked the looks of smartphones but too expensive(phone and plan) settled for this and turned off data usage.
Keyboard is a bit small, but phone works great if you are looking for a simple touchscreen smartphone. Don't expect big things if you are used to iPhone or Android, but this is a quality device that works well right out of the box.
so far no droped calls no freezen only had it for a month so ,camera is better then i thought it would be.
My Palm Centro "died". Not wanting to pay hundreds of dollars for a phone and contract, I opted to stay in the Palm family and pay $50 for this phone. It is much better than my centro with the added smartphone options but I secretly miss my Centro. BTW, Verizon was no help in getting my contacts from the Palm Centro to my Palm Pixi. After many search requests on Palm's website, I was able to find the instructions and get everything transferred over to the phone and updated to my Google calendar.
Its not a bad phone, just used to android systems. Not to great of a selection of anything for the palm market. Great phone for someone who doesnt use android tho.
I fell in love with this phone right away. I even bought the exact same one for my husband as a gift for his graduation from Army basic training, but after only a couple of months the phone suddenly lost the ability to send or receive pictures (including it's really cool upload directly to Facebook feature). This means that I couldn't send my husband any pictures of our son while he finishes the rest of his training! :( A couple of weeks after that it suddenly started shutting down randomly. Sometimes it does this several times in an hour and it's really annoying because the phone takes so long to start back up. Now, along with the other problems, it is also randomly popping up the shutdown menu every minute or two. I am still searching, but so far haven't found any way to fix any of these problems. I fear that I threw away the money on two of these phones and their cases. Very disappointing.
Attempted to get help from manufacturer, but they couldn't help. Tried loading my own ringtone, had the same results. Like the phone but couldn't hear it ring when in a car etc. Returned it for full refund within 15 days and purchased a different phone.
