There must have been 2 version to this motor as mine did not have a plastic base. All metal and it works great!! Remember to always use a watt-meter to check to make sure you are within parameters of your speed controller and motor.
This motor rips....my extra is soooo fast and the vertical is amazing....GET SOME!!!!! I'd like to see the spec's on this website though...weight, diameter, ect...
Ran this motor in the parkzone T-28, using 60 A pro speed control, and 2500 4s 40c lipo. Hot glued the wing to fuselage, and did several full power passeswith 13x8 prop. When the motor seized, I was fortunate to have airspeed AND altitude & safely recovered aircraft. Postmortem showed the plastic rear of the motor welded itself to the rotor. OOPS...Purchased new motor, and using throttle restraint have really enjoyed flying this set up. Make sure to glue the wing, because it WILL come off with this power setup! I enjoy your products immensely. Rick.
I am really liking this motor compared to others. It seems to be a better design, with a metal can instead of the plastic of the other motors. It has plenty of power and really pulls my Extra 300 very well despite the other issues of that airframe. Priced reasonably compared to others as well.

The performance is unparallel! The 15BL propels the Extra above and beyound my expectations. The verticle climb and sound of this outrunner are amazing: V/r Chief
While it has good torque and power, runs great, etc., the plastic base has popped off several times. I'm "thrifty" enough to not want to toss an otherwise good motor in the trash, so have epoxied the base on and inserted metal splines to prevent the motor from torquing it out of position. Meanwhile, I'll be shopping for another motor...probably by a different manufacturer. Too bad Parkzone went the cheap route on a critical part of the power chain!
Just had to replace this motor after a small mishap. Base of motor is plastic. Motor is impossible to take apart without destroying motor. Surprisingly low quality after I looked at it more closely.
This motor separated from the plastic part and brought my Extra down in mid-flight! I had noticed some noise but nothing loud and I knew it had not crashed before or even nosed-over. The motor took with it my cowl, prop, prop adapter, and spinner. All trash now. I managed to "deadstick" the plane into the tarmac in more or less a flat spin into the blacktop from 50'AGL. I had some damage to the wings and some destroyed wheel pants as well. I can deal with all that... I suppose... Stuff happens... I wanted to buy a better motor but the "direct replacements" need a stronger ESC. Ouch! This is getting expensive! DO NOT BUY. YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THIS PREMATURELY! If the plastic part/s was/were changed to metal/made stronger this motor would be fantastic! It was really fun until it broke and now I'm looking at a hundred-plus dollar purchase that should never have to take place. (rest assured this purchase will not occur at HH... only fair) The Extra is great otherwise but if I had realized I would be in this position I would have bought one of the widely available (and more affordable in this case) ARF's and bought the power combo of my choice from the start. I only write this review because I wish I could have read this before I bought a $250 foamie and is looking at least a hundred more. Could have bought a fantastic ARF with that kind of dough...
