Ryan O'Neal and John Hurt are teamed in this hilarious yet suspenseful story of one of the oddest couples to be immortalized on film. O'Neal is Benson, a detective whose prowess with the ladies is legendary. Hurt is Kevin, a gay police clerk. Their assignment: set up housekeeping as a gay couple in order to solve the murder of a member of the local gay community. As the two attempt to adjust to their new lifestyle, O'Neal's awkwardness and discomfort provide numerous hilarious scenes. The mismatched duo's cover becomes successful, however, and it is soon apparent that they are on the trail of information that will lead to the murderer. This trail, though, also makes potential victims of them both and turns the humor into a serious mystery.
