I am a huge fan of Paula Deen, but was worried about the quality of this product. Should not have worried. It is heavy, well made, balanced, and an excellent buy. Hoping to get the rest of the set now !!
I received this skillet as christmas present from my grandmother. I love this skillet as it tends to be my go-to skillet. I have the Paula Deen set of cookware too, and have been using them almost two years and love them too.
I've had this skillet for several months now. I love it. It is nice and heavy and I use it often. The inside is smooth and easy to use. My only comment is that I probably don't keep the copper bottom as shiny as it could be - but it works great !
I was a little hesitant to get this because it is not dishwasher safe (My 12 year old does the dishes so I was afraid that this would accidently get put in the dishwasher). I am so glad that I bought this. It is by far the best skillet I have ever had. It has a nice, thick copper bottom that evenly distributes heat so it cooks food evenly. I would highly recommend this to all my friends.
This skillet is a beautiful pan and performs wonderfully. I was a little disappointed that the copper discolored even though I soaked it in soda water for 20 minutes the way I was told to do. I also wish it had a lid with it or one that could be purchased separately. It was a little expensive but a good pan is worth a little extra. Overall, I'm pleased with the pan.
The interior is domed. If you put an egg in the middle of the pan, it will slide to a side. Frying bacon, the grease runs around the pan, and the center is clear of grease. The heavy part of the bottom does not cover the bottom of the pan. When that egg runs to the side of the pan it does not cook on the edge because it is not hot enough. the egg has to be moved. The bottom is not flat and it will not sit flat on the burner. A cover to fit would be nice, even if it had to be purchased separetly. the old T-Fall Wock cover will work well.
We purchased this item a couple of months ago and have been very pleased. We used it on our conventional stovetop and it was our best performer! That was "yesterday". However, "today" we installed a new stove with a ceramic glass cooktop. This was the first pan we used and what a disappointment! The pan left a narrow ring of copper "flecks" permanently fused to the cooktop. Upon inspection we discovered the bottom of this copper clad pan to be concave (approx. 3/16" at the center), apparently (?) by design. Only a very narrow area around the circumference of the pan-bottom contacts the flat ceramic glass cooking surface. While the stove manufacturer "cautions" the use of copper....it "warns" the use of cookware that is not flat! A perfect storm and "today" my wife is in a sea of tears.
