Like Paula would say, This is some good cooking skillet. We love the size and weight but especially the height of the skillet walls. We lost one in a grease fire and immediately went to Walmart to replace it with the exact same one after price shopping other mainline outlets. Great bargain.
I asked for a new griddle for Christmas in 2010 for cooking pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches and my sweet son purchase this for me. Needless to say it was much more than I was expecting, as in it is a full skillet vs the shorter sided griddle I had meant. Boy howdy am I glad he mis-understood! Not only can I still cook pancakes, grill sandwiches but it is my skillet I go to for cooking my family loved fried chicken among other things. I absolutely LOVE LOVE this skillet and have had it for almost two years now and it is just as good as the day I received it. I mainly hand wash it but have put it into the dishwasher from time to time. The only down fall is I wish I could find a square glass lid. HIGHLY RECOMMEND worth the price!!!
This was extremely hard to find, Walmart was the only place I found it. It is an excellent cooking utensil and very handy. It by far exceeded my expectations.
I have had this pan for two years. I love it! I use it everyday, so I have worn out the nonstick coating and am ordering a new one! The size and depth or great. The instructions say not to use more than medium heat. I have found that the pan cooks hot so medium heat is all you need. I always hand wash it and the outside looks as good as the day I got it! I love this pan! I also have the matching set of pots. They are all wonderful! A really good investment!
I've shopped around for a good set of cookware for what seems like forever! This griddle and the large covered saute pan completed my set. I just bought the 10 piece set last week too. They are all perfect and super easy to clean! Food cooks evenly and the best part .. NOTHING STICKS!! I just got rid of my stainless steel set - NEVER AGAIN will I buy stainless steel! No more fustrations .. thanks to the Paula Deen set!!
I absolutely love this square skillet. It is so durable. Those cheap flat ones fall apart so fast. This is wonderful for making anything and everything. From grilled cheese to fried chicken. And the color is great. Her line of skillets and pans are beautiful colors with flecks of black in the paint. That makes them unique but quality is what makes them a wonderful addition to my kitchen! You will not be sorry you purchased this, and Walmarts price can not be beat! I put a liner of paper towels between my pans to keep them from getting scratched up.. it works great.
I got a gift card for xmas and decided to try out a piece from the PD line. The porcelain coating is just beautiful. The pan is thick and heavy, like high-quality cookware should be. It cooked beautifully, giving a nice deep brown color to some thick pork chops, even over medium-low heat. It cleaned up easily with soap and water. I love it!!! I shouldn't really have rated the durability b/c I've only used it a couple of times, but it certainly looks like it will hold up just fine, with proper care--that is, not overheating it and not putting it in the dishwasher (it's not dishwasher safe, anyway). It's probably a good value, I'm just getting used to the idea of spending $30 for a pan. I would like to have the entire set now. At $100 for a full set, it sounds like a steal, if they are as well-made as this square pan. Too bad I already have a set of brand new pots and pans! :( They are stainless steel however, so I may go ahead and splurge on these since they are non-stick. Never hurts to have both! Anyway, from my experience so far, this is high quality cookware.
This is the third pan I've bought. I use it so much, I can wear one out in 6 months. I would use it more if it had a matching lid. It's great for cooking breakfast, as all items for one or two people can be cooked in the pan. For the money, as I don't consider it an expensive purchase, it works for me. Easy clean up until the coating starts to wear with use. I will continue to buy one every six months as I haven't found one like this anywhere....
Love the red it matches my kitchen motive. However the red fades farely quickly, and lightens allot. We had it for about 1 week and it looked washed out. We did return it and get another one because I like the size, depth, and shape of the pan. I am very careful with it now. I try to wipe it out as soon as I use it so I dont have to let it soak. ANd it is NOT dishwasher safe.
I wanted something that would work on my Electric stove with the smooth top. Thought if I bought Paula Dean, I would get something special. NOT! the bottom of the pan has popped up off the stove and I have to cook bacon in the moat around the edges. And I was looking at the whole set - only reason I did not get it was the square pan was red and the set was not. Glad they did not have my color. And yes, I followed the care instructions exactly! So disappointed!
