Dog Food

I have three dogs and 15 yr old eats this pet food. If your dog is comfortable on this diet then I would recommend it as it has provided my dog with the energy and health she needs at her age. Of course for those of you who have dogs with special diet needs and or dogs unable to eat filler type foods I would not recommend this, but overall it works for my pet who has been on it since she was a puppy.

I have tried a number of brands of food for my older dog. She likes Pedigree Senior better than so many of the others, I will continue buying it for her.

I can't even count how many bags of different dog food I have had to give away. But she goes for this food more than any other brand I have ever bought in all price ranges, too. Thank you, Pedigree and Walmart for carrying this brand. My dog is a standard sized Chihuahua who this summer will be 15 years old. I am so very pleased.

We have purchased other brands for seniors and our dog will not touch them. The vet recommends any dog over 8 years old eat dog food for seniors. This is one of the only brands that he really enjoys.

I have 2 8 yr olds, and a 13 yr old. I switched from another brand because the costs got higher and higher. Pedigree is what I started out with and now I'm feeding it again.

Have been using this dog food for quite a while now. I like the smaller morsels and my dogs (12 and 8) both clean their dishes.

I'm so glad that I can order this online. It is extremely hard to find two bags a month of this particular dog food at my local stores.

I kinda scoffed at the idea of buying "senior formula" dog food when the vet mentioned it this past year, for my 9-10 year old lab mix. But lo and behold, she started having some unpleasant and persistent stomach problems (from the back end) with the Ol' Roy High Performance dry food that I have given her for years. A super low-fat canned food from the vet cleared her problems up quickly, so I figured there must actually be something to the advantages of a low-fat diet for older dogs. Dog food shocker: all brands are pretty much the same unless you get into the really high-priced premium brands sold only by vet offices. I couldn't afford the vet canned food for long, so I switched to this Pedigree Senior product because it was a known brand and the cheapest senior dry food I could find from Wal-mart. (I wish Ol' Roy had an option, but their senior stuff only comes canned.) As others have said, when you pick up in-store you get "Healthy Longevity" version and not "Senior" as far as what the bag says. The store doesn't know any different, they just scan the code. I believe that the two products must be very similar since Pedigree puts the same UPC code on the bag. In fact, the Pedigree.com website doesn't even list "Senior" as one of their available products; it appears that "Healthy Longevity" has replaced "Senior" but Walmart just has not updated their website. My dog's digestion has improved with this food, it has been a smooth transition from Ol' Roy High Performance to Pedigree Healthy Longevity (it's mixed 50/50 right now and I'll go 100% Pedigree when this runs out), and the price is bearable. I'll keep watching for an Ol' Roy Senior dry food to pop up though, because I'm betting it would cost less without a huge difference in quality.

The add says healthy longevity, but the last 3 times I ordered it it's active senior is what I get . It looks the same maybe they just changed name . And only once one of the bags was broken and food everywhere in box . But other then that always quick with delivery.

I was expecting Senior formula as described and instead received Longevity formula which is not the same. Make sure and do your homework on this item and see the difference between Senior and Longevity before ordering. I should have paid more attention to another reviewer who expressed the same concern.
