I bought this for the kids to use on our small (20 acre) lake. Probably not the best choice for rivers and streams but for calm water leisure use you can't find a better value, IMO.
I am an experienced Canoer of about 45 years and have used all different types of canoes. This Canoe is Excellent for general use. I use it mostly on the Delaware River which has some class 1-3 rapids and lots of rocks in certain areas. Especially, shallow areas. This canoe holds up very well for my wife and I and occasionally our young granddaughter. It is not meant to be carried by hand over long distances but is of a good weight that makes it solid in the water. It is not meant to carry over 800 lbs total but is good for weekend canoe/camping trips. It's solid and durable. We've had ours for about 12 years now and it's still going strong. I do agree with those who have complained about the 'plastic seats' mounting design. It is definitely poor and it took 6 years for ours to break in the front. We jerry-rigged it for a couple of seasons before it finally gave way completely. We are now looking to replace that front seat. But other than that it has endured moderate use over the years. This is a great canoe for the average family use. Anyone doing week long expeditions, need to carry excessive weight, or navigate heavy duty rough rapid filled canoe trips shouldn't even be looking at something at this price level. The description shown when purchasing describes what it is designed for and you should pay attention to what you're purchasing. This is an great entry-medium level use canoe and the price is excellent for what you're getting. We were very satisfied customers of this product until our seat broke and will be again once we get it fixed. Hopefully, very soon. We love this canoe
This Canoe is awesome! I've never owned a canoe before, but am loving this one!-Especially the price! It is very well constructed-sturdy. It does track very well when there is evenly distributed weight(the front has to be down for the keel to work). I have had it out many times, both calm and choppy, and it is very stable-for a canoe. I use it on the local lake here, and have had it out when there was 1 foot high white-caps. It took it like a champ. For choppy conditions like that, I kneel down on a yoga pad I stole from my wife. Sitting on the seats is a bit too tipsy. But in normal conditions the seats work just fine!On one outing I layed down in the bottom and took a nap! I love this canoe! It's Great!
This canoe is an excellent product. Material is light-weight and durable. I can't see how anyone thought it wasn't sturdy. My wife, my baby, and I go canoeing every week in a river... and we've never flipped it.
This is the best canoe we have owned to date. Easy to handle, very stable in rough waters or dealing with larger waves. We are very happy we bought it and highly recommend this canoe to everyone.
We've used the canoe several times since getting it and love it. It's used primarily for fishing with my two sons on a moderate sized lake. It portages well and seems fairly stable (even with a high energy child in the middle).
This canoe is just as discribed. The cup holders are a little more shallow than I was hoping for but they still work. I love the fishing pole holders just wish they had one in the back too. It's wide enough that I can stand in it and not tip it over, I do have to be careful though. I have had 3 people in it and didn't tip it over and have used it for several weekends now. Once on a lake with some heavy boat trafic even when the waves were comming in from the side we still didn't flip.
Pelicans fly, float and swim - all this one did was sink!! It seems strong enough but its not stable. no sooner did my friend and i get in and with ANY movement it would start rocking and we couldn`t stop it from flipping over. We ended up going swimming 3 times - that was it. It was returned today, the day after we got it. I would not have been as harsh with the rating if i had not lost $110 on the shipping, they don't return it. the other person who rated this loved it so maybe we just got a bad one, i don`t know. You decide if you want to risk losing $110 on shipping.
