We purchased two of these , 28oz. each. Our hummers love them. So do we. They are very easy to clean and refill!
This feeder serves multiple hummingbirds at once with a rest perch for their weary little worker bodies :) Made of glass, it washes easily and can be sterilized in boiling water if needed. The top screws off, as well as the bottom. The top will hold water, serving as a "mote" to ant proof it.
Works great. The birds like it, they can actually stop on this one, my old one doesn't have the ring around the bottom, holds a good amount of nectar. There is no leaking.
I ordered this feeder because our current feeder only holds 14 oz and has only 5 stations. I wanted a larger feeder so that I don't have to mix up food daily. Also, we have about a dozen hummingbirds coming to our winter feeder. They were fighting over the stations so much that I decided to find a feeder with more stations. This feeder holds 28 oz and has 8 feeding stations. The price is very reasonable.
This hummingbird feeder is so attractive. It's real nice and sturdy. I always have ants attack my feeder, but this one has the moat on the top to keep them from getting to the feeder openings. So far I haven't had any ants get in it. I'll have to just wait and see. It's only been up two weeks.
Mine has different flowers (red) with little white snap-ons to make the holes bee proof. These are hard to remove and hard to clean. Also the "perches" do not work as intended as they are too close for the birds to use. I am happy with the amount of nectar it holds as I was refilling my previous feeder as much as 3 times a day. I was hoping maybe the white flowers with the perches could replace my red flowers.
Mine had 6 "perchs) with 3 feeders on each. Glad bottle is slightly different. The base leaks so bad that I can no longer use it. Impossible to find replacement base & none of the email options seem to be what I need. Another brand at least sells replacement bases. Hate to throw this away since the top is in perfect condition, but as of now, it's useless and I won't replace with same brand
I had it up for 2 weeks. no bees, no birds. I came home from work and the bottom red plastic piece had fallen off spilling everywhere. Its 8 feet high from ground. I tried again, screwed it together, I only filled half way this time, within 2 hours, it came apart again. Waste of money!!!!
This feeder looks great and it certainly keeps the bees away. However, there is a part inside the base that must be removed for cleaning. Mine seems to be molded wrong so the nectar does not fill the reservoir that provides the nectar to the feeding stations. I have to go outside and tilt the feeder (which produces a glub, glub, glub...of air bubbles) to get the nectar into the reservoir. My hummingbirds prefer the cheap Wild Birds Unlimited feeder even when they have to fight off the bees to the frustration of this Pennington feeder. I an so disappointed. I thought I had found the ultimate hummingbird feeder.
This product was used for about a week. The bottom plastic bowl and top separated and the hummingbirds could not get to the nectar. Both of the plastic parts on the bottom warped and separated . They would not fit back together and the feeder is useless.
