amazed at how fast it grew
I have lived in the Northeast for over 40 years and the best results from spring or fall reseeding was with the Pennington Northeast mix. It has the most seed and least undesirable elements of all the brands on the market. I have tried all of them and I will never waste my time or money on anything but Pennington Northeast blend.
I have used Pennington seed in the past mostly fescue mix sun and shade recently we had some work done in front yard where a trench had to be dug so,we had to plant new grass I decided to try this mix which is mostly ryegrass.I am very happy at the speed it germinated at 5 day and you can see grass so far so good.
Tried this for overseeding in Spring. Dethatched lawn thoroughly, then overseeded and kept lawn moist. Two weeks later only less than half of the seeds actually germinated. Very sparse. Most of the seeds are just still sitting there in the dirt, reminding me how expensive this seed was and what a waste of money it was.
Absolutely a waste of money. Did every thing all of the above did. Not a single blade of grass. Need to job all over again. Very disappointed.
I aerated my lawn, then dethatched my lawn, and mowed it close. I applied a starter fertilizer, and overseeded the whole lawn. It has bee kept watered naturally and by sprinkler. After 4 weeks I have hardly any growth. Maybe 10%-15% growth in the areas that are still bare.
I've had a lot of experience with grass seed and scott's is ok but pennington has never worked for me i have actually seen a couple of blades grow but that's it . I can seed the seed and the starter fertilizer as i apply it but i really think their seed is dead it never germinates . As a connecticut resident i prefer lesco seed and fert ive never have had any issues .
I bought Pennington and Scott's the same day. I bought the Pennington's because it was cheaper. The Scott's had a darker soil mix then the Pennington. The Scott's is growing like crazy and the Pennington hasn't shown any growth at all! Disappointed to say the least. Now I have to scrape it off and apply the Scott's. Never again!
I used this for a clients yard and it did not grow at all. I used a different brand on my yard at the same time and the other brand grew.
