I've used the Pentel Clic Retractable Erasers for 10 years or more. These work with 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9 lead from mechanical pencils or regular pencils. These erasers do not tear the paper or smudge. These are my favorite erases because the retract and are long lasting. They do not get dried out, get brittle or tear.
This item saves me from using up my eraser on the mechanical pencil when I am at my desk. Erases cleanly and with very little residue.
Had this for years and I'm happy that I was able to purchase another one.
Clic eraser is the perfect match to my 500 mechanical pencil! With little effort it completely removes mistakes!

I've been using these since the 80's and I hate using the block erasers because they're bulky and imprecise. At 1st I was disappointed because I was holding it wrong and the eraser would retract when I was holding it at an angle. I thought they left out the part that presses into the eraser to prevent it from retracting. I was thinking that I would take off the rubber grip and use a razor blade to cut that feature. Lo and behold, the slot was actually included but it was hidden under the rubber grip. Brilliant people, just brilliant. I wish I would have thought of this invention and patented it. I wouldn't have to work anymore as a Geometry teacher!
I love having the Clic Erasure. Even with mechanical pencils, the erasures has to be replenished. There are different colored Grips to choose from AND refills. Price is great and fits the online description to a "T".
I was gifted a pack of these for Christmas by request. My current eraser, must be held at an extreme angle to the paper in order to evade retraction of the eraser. If one presses with even the slightest pressure at an angle greater than 45 degrees the eraser retracts. This means I am forced to hold the eraser at an angle less than 45 degrees to the paper in order to eraser. This is not normal for the hand. The design in faulty. The eraser should have a locking mechanism so the eraser does not return to the cylinder. My older version of this eraser did not have this problem. I love the way they erase. I wish they had a locking mechanism like the Staedtler.
I have ZE-21's that I have had for over 2 decades that are still working great, but I bought one of these ZE-22 and the clip broke off. This happens when the eraser is about half-way done because the clip gets in the way of my grip as I'm erasing and just snaps off after a while. Considerable decline in quality from a previously perfect product.
