Gives a nice close shave, long battery charge, easy to clean, light; great for travel (don't need a voltage converter).
I have been using Norelco shavers since the 60's. This is by far the best shaver. It is quiet, smooth shaving (I use it dry), and long run time. For me there is no razor burn and irritation, leaves your face smooth and clean.
I have been using either razor blades or a foil electric razor for 55 years. Earlier this year I began disability that prevented me from being able to shave. By the time I was able to try, my beard was too long. I tried blades and my electric razor- almost no improvement. I ordered the Series 6000 razor and used it. Dry, sitting on my recliner. No burn, no rash, no pull, but in about 5 minutes I had a superb close shave. I have shaved about 5-6 times since, each with the same superb results. Having never used a multi-head razor before, I see what I've been missing!
I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I am normally an old-school kind of guy when it comes to shaving, taking the time to lather up and use an actual razor. But it slows down my mornings, gets cream everywhere, and sometimes I cut myself. Thus, I am pretty impressed with the Norelco 6900 Wet & Dry Electric Shaver. It does the job in the morning faster and cleaner than shaving with cream and a razor. One of my favorite features of this protect is the SkinGuard mode. My face is pretty sensitive, and when I have tried electric razors in the past, I have gotten pretty red and irritated. The SkinGuard mode is a game changer -- it slows down the rotation of the razor heads which reduces irritation. It still took a few uses to get my face adjusted, but after sticking with it for a few days, I am a convert. I will still use my old school razor when I need a super close shave for a formal event or photos, but on a day to day basis, I am now exclusively using the Norelco 6900 Wet & Dry Electric Shaver. Another cool feature of this shaver is you can use it wet with shaving cream. I don`t use this feature all that often, since there is more clean up than I want to do when I am trying to get ready for work in the morning, but on a weekend or when I have more time, it makes for a smoother, more comfortable shave. There are some other cool features of this Shaver. First, the battery lasts a pretty long time. Charge is for an hour and you have 50 minutes of shaving time. For me, that means I only charge it every other week or so. If you forget and you are out of juice, it has a quick charge mode when you can charge it for 5 minutes, and it indicates with a light when you have enough battery power for one shave. The shaver also has a nice little charging stand which keeps it neat and upright when not in use, and takes up little space on my counter or in my medicine cabinet. The other nice thing about this shaver is the easy maintenance. When you are done shaving, a light comes on to remind you to rinse it in hot water. I just leave it by the side of the sink to drip dry. The attachments click in and out super easy. It also comes with a nice carrying case for easy use when traveling with it. Also, the shaver has a lock so it doesn`t accidentally turn on in transit. Overall, I feel like this is a really well designed, easy to use shaver. I love the SkinGuard mode the most, and it`s really easy to use with intuitive design and functionality. Maintenance and cleaning is easy, and it comes ready to use out of the box. With the case and lock, it`s great to travel with. Overall, I highly recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm in my 70s and find this shaver to be the best I've ever had. It gives a close shave with a remarkably smooth performance and no jabs or pinching whatsoever. I now shave in about half the time I used to.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the years I have bought many electric shavers and they mostly have been Norelco/Philips shavers and I have to say that this one is the best
I received the Philips Norelco Shaver 60000 through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I did not have high hopes for it because I've tried electric shavers in the past and they didn't give me a close shave, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm shaving with this shaver daily. The first few times shaving, wherever the shaver touched felt mildly itchy. I recommend using lotion after shaving until your skin adjusts (the manual did mention that it may take a few weeks for your face to become accustomed to the shaver). My face still feels a bit rough after shaving. It's not smooth like I'm used to after shaving with a bladed razor but, hey, the stubbly look is in. One surprise was how easily the shaving heads, there are three of them, contoured to my face. I have a large Adam's apple, so I was a little concerned about shaving over the area, but it handled it just fine. The first time shaving with it I noticed that there were a few long hairs around my Adam's apple and the where my neck meets my jaw. I go over those areas a few times to make sure I get all the hairs. The sound shaver makes when you turn it on is a high-pitched squeal, which I did not expect. I'm sensitive to sounds, so I thought this would bother me, but I quickly got used to it. It reminds me of the futuristic floating car sound from science fiction movies. Per the instructions, I am fully charged it before the first use. The manual states that a full charge should last 5 hours. Shaving with it only takes a few minutes so the charge lasts quite a while. Per the instructions, I clean the shaver after I'm done by taking off the shaving head and rinsing it under water. It's pretty easy to clean, but I do get little hairs bits all over my hands and sink (comparable to my bladed razor). Note that you have to let the parts dry, so the shaver spends most of it's time disassembled. This wasn't too much of a problem for me, but it is something I hadn't considered. Overall, this is a feature rich electric shaver – you can use it in the shower! – and I'm happy with it. The charge lasts for ever (there's even a quick charge feature when you need a quick shave), it's quick and easy, and there's no danger of cutting yourself. I'll keep using it as my daily driver, until I have to be completely silky smooth for some special event.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Do not care for the squared off re-design of the cutter head. Hard to get razor edge near facial features. Have had several Philips razors, would not purchase this one again because of cutter head design
It doesnt shave any closer, only thing the 6000 has over the 4200 is the two speed capability. I think i should've went back to the 4200, or by passed the 6000 and gone to the 9000. Oh well live and learn. maybe next time i'll purchase a different brand.
Negatives: on/off button is too big, so that the off button is hard to avoid while shaving. Shave is not as close as my previous Philips shaver Shaver heads pivot in one direction only (previous shaver's heads followed the facial contours better. In order to trim you have to remove the shaving heads first. The travel container holds the basic shaver only; no place for the trimmer and the charging cord.
