This product is perfect for my work as I am a Medical Transcriptionist and recently had to get hearing aids. The clarity is really good. Will be ordering another set to have one at home and one at work. Very pleased!
Besides over the head headphones, you CANNOT ge a better quality sound/base response. Im going to order 2 more for backup..
Bought these so I could watch movies in same room husband was watching tv. I could always hear the tv better than my movie. Problem solved. Well worth the money.
I have been desperate for noise cancellation headphones since flying with screaming children, snoring passengers, and loud talkers. But, who can afford BOSE? Jeez! These are not BOSE quality but they are excellent quality for the price. They are comfortable and easy to store. Save yourself several hundred bucks and go for these instead of the BOSE.
I hate ear buds and despise open back headphones - canz (closed back headphones) are what I want to use to hear my music! In the summer I wear a fedora, making the standard over-the-top-of-the-head canz out of the question. This Philips neckband is one of only a few closed-back sports-style headphones on the market. I do wish that the earpiece was bigger as I like the full-sized canz. Other than the earpiece size - these headphones provide acceptable sound quality, reasonable noise cancelling (given that the entire ear is not covered) and are comfortable enough for my 4 hour round-trip commute. I use them with a SANSA mp3 player. The neckband and earpieces are relatively simple to adjust. The included battery for the noise cancelling has lasted nearly a month - or an estimated 120+ hours. My wife borrowed these canz last week and liked them so much we ordered another set. She reports good results with her iRiver. Don't expect Boze-quality noise cancelling or the performance of full-sized canz... but for the price and neckband-style: these are perfect for throwing in the backpack for that bus/train commute or using while pushing the lawnmower around the yard.
The point of buying these headphones for me was to cancel out noise. The only time they cancel out noise is when they are turned up to nearly maximum volume. Also, the switch to turn on 'active noise-canceling' only makes the headphones as loud as they should be when the music is played because the music runs through the system and filters it to be quieter.
Look, one can't expect exactly state-of-the-art for the $15. Still, these are pretty decent headphones. I have two quibbles - the first I had heard before and the second that would have been nice to know. the first is that the "noise cancellation" seems to be more a sound boost. It reminds me of the Loudness button that used to be on portable FM radios. Flip it on and the sound does become noticeably boosted but I almost feel like I need to turn it down a bit. The sound is good and clear for lower cost headphones and that is probably enough to recommend these. The second quibble is that the ear loops aren't very comfortable. I think I expected them to be something more like a flexible hook to help them stay on, with one end attached to the headphone and the other end open. These are truly loops with both ends attached. You have to stick the top of your ears through the loop to use them. It makes it kind of awkward and uncomfortable at first. After you get them situated, it isn't so bad but I find I have to start over with the adjustment period each time I put them on.
Same as many other reviewers, I don't feel any noise get canceled when I used it on a flight, but only a bit louder for the played sound. Ears start getting uncomfortable after wearing it for a couple of hours. It looks nice, but can be hardly considered a noise cancellation head phone
I ordered the Philips Noise-Canceling Behind The Neck Headphones to use as a noise-canceling device. But all that it did was increase the volume slightly of the music I was listening. It did not cancel out any background noise.
I purchased these headphones to use at work (I'm in a cubicle situation). I was very excited to get them because they are the behind the neck headphones. Well, they are not well made at all for a Philips product. They barely stay on your ears, and they started hurting after only an hour, even if I adjusted the size. All the noise cancelling feature did was turn on some white noise. I found it annoying and unhelpful. I have owned noise cancelling headphones before so I am not saying this out of ignorance. I know you can't expect much for this kind of price, but I expected more. Returned after only 2 days and bought some Sony's.
