This may actually be one of the best things I own. It looks great and works well. The light is unbelievable. I love how the sunset and sunrise works. I love the sounds that have been chosen. I have had no issues so far and would recommend this to anyone. If you have trouble falling asleep - this will help you tremendously. If you have to get up in the middle of the night - the night light is excellent. I have nothing negative so say about this. The overall design is perfect.
Wake gently to increasing brightness starting before set alarm time. The light changes from a soft reddish tone to brighter yellow. If you don't fully awaken, there is a choice of audible alarm, such as soft gong, birdsong, other soothing noise at actual alarm time. turn off by touching alarm icon on face of clock. I am extremely nearsighted, need to put on glasses to touch correct icon or set the clock. The time is not bright or disturbing when trying to sleep. Includes relax cycle of sunset or breathing rhythm to lull you to sleep.
Thanks to this SmartSleep Sleep and Wakeup Light, I've become an early bird after 45 years of being a night owl!! When I first plugged it in, I set the alarm to 6:00 am with the bird sounds and have been out of bed by 6:03 every day since. I keep forgetting to turn the alarm off on the weekend, so I have not been sleeping in on my days off. This is both good and bad. LOL I do not use the wind down, breathing, or radio. I don't use the night light very often. One drawback, I did not know there was a difference between a connected and regular version of this lamp. I assumed “Smart” meant it worked with my smart phone and when it was delivered, I tried connecting to the app. That didn't work. The smart connected version probably would allow me to sleep in on the weekend, but this is a sunk cost. I am not going to buy a second one. The version I bought does have two alarm settings, and it is super easy to disable one alarm and enable another. I just need to make it part of my routine. Long drawn out explanation made short, make sure you get the one you want, connected or non-connected, they have slightly different model numbers…. I 99% love this product. It loses just 1% because the one I bought doesn't connect with the app, but I should have researched a little more.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was provided to me as a sample for my open and honest review. Personally I am not a morning person whatsoever. I have found waking up via a traditional alarm clock jars me awake and leaves me feeling less than awake in the mornings. Here`s where the Philips Somneo comes in. This product does really well at waking you up gently. When I set the alarm for my desired time, the Somneo is programmed to start getting brighter and brighter to wake me up gently with subtle light changes as well as natural sounds like birds chirping. After trying out the product for a week I have found that usually this feature allows me to wake up gently with no more being abruptly awakened! A couple times I even ended up waking up slightly earlier! This has to be my favorite feature of the product. Setup for the product is easy. The Philips Somneo light is basically plug and play. All there is to do is plug in the AC adapter to the wall and connect the other end to the back of the unit. In the box it even came with a AUX cord to connect a phone or other device which was nice. Also on the back of the product there is a USB port for charging your devices as well as FM radio if you prefer waking up to radio. This product definitely exceeded my expectations. At first I wasn`t sure quite what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this product for me. After just a few days of use I was waking up much more naturally without the loud traditional alarm. While I would recommend this product to friends and family, I would like to see more slots for alarms get added. Throughout a typical week I set alarms at a few different alarms and the Philips Somneo only allows for 2 preset alarm times which required me to change the settings a couple times over the course of my typical week. Overall I was quite impressed by the product. It was easy to use, woke me up much more naturally, and left me feeling more refreshed in the morning.
The Philips Somneo Sunrise Light is a good choice for a multi-function alarm clock, radio, and therapy light. The device, which I received as a free sample to use for this review, has a modern, fashionable design that looks great on my nightstand. The primary feature is a morning `wake up` alarm clock that gradually fills your room with light from the display over a period of time. When it reaches your desired wake up time, the device plays your choice of sounds: FM radio, sounds from a device connected via the aux jack, or a choice of calming nature sounds. I was initially hesitant that the combination of nature sounds and a light would wake me up in the morning, as I`m a heavy sleeper. However, I found that the sunrise wake-up feature was incredibly calming and effective. Instead of jarring you awake as would an alarm, the device fills the room with light, just like the sun would streaming through a bedroom window. I found myself starting my morning more refreshed and satisfied. My favorite feature is the night-light feature. Tapping the top of the device produces a soft, red light that is excellent for seeing in a darkened bedroom. I also appreciate the inclusion of a USB port for charging, and an auxiliary jack for sounds. I can charge my iPhone while playing music through the headphone jack. There are a few features that I would like to have seen improved. First, while the lamp itself is incredibly bright when on its highest setting, the clock display is very dim and somewhat difficult to see at night. The device also doesn`t have any physical buttons. To change settings (for example, in order to set the alarm) you must tap through a touch display. However, the menu can be somewhat confusing, and it takes several prompts to set up your desired sounds, brightness, and alarm time. It would have been easier to press a button to instantly set an alarm, rather than clicking through multiple menus using the touch screen. Despite these small flaws, I recommend this product if you are looking for a wake-up light to brighten your mornings.
The simulated sunset is very calming. It lasts about five minutes, during which the lamp gradually darkens and the ocean wave sounds gradually fade away. The sunrise feature is nice too, should I wake early I may see the room dimly lit with yellow light that very gradually brightens over a period of 30 minutes until the set alarm time when the selected alarm sound begins. The FM radio is very sensitive with good sound quality. I haven't tried the Breathe to sleep feature. The midnight light is turned on and off by just tapping the top of the lamp. The cell phone charger feature works fine. A minor design flaw is the FM antenna wire exits the lamp body without any strain relief.
Received a free light in exchange for a review. The product worked as describe, however, there are a few things that I would change about it. If you are a heavy sleeper as I am. I would recommend setting another alarm so that you don't oversleep. The light does wake you up, but of course, it doesn`t get you out of bed. There is no snooze button on this device, so once its turned off its off. That could be one area of improvement on the device. Also, it could use more sounds to wake you up. Overall, the concept is good just those things I would change.
I feel like I wake up more gently, and start my day feeling more refreshed. My only complaint about the Sleep light is that the speaker is poor quality for the price. Not a huge deal, but it's why I took away one star. All in all, I'm glad I took the chance on this product.
Very few options to configure the few available sounds. Awful commands; they are difficult to figure what they are for unless you memorize the Manual. Configuration control very confusing; icons design and resolution terrible. In a colorful and high resolution era those icons resemble the ones used in the 90's. Snooze command are hard to use and often doesn't function as expected. Not worth the price, would be a good product if were in $50 range. Stay away, or you will regret buying.
Bought this for my wife for Christmas and set it up. Didn't seem to work properly. Alarm wasn't the sound we selected, and control buttons we're sporadically coming and going to where we finally gave up and set up a return. She was excited to try this but said directions were horrible, and for the way it preformed, it wasn't worth the price.
