About a year after having hip surgery I started having problems walking. I researched many scooters and finally decided on this one. It was the best thing I ever did. It is easy to break down and I can charge the battery while the scooter is still in my van. I bought an extra battery pack and a large basket for the back, so now I can go anywhere and shop with peace of mind. Best thing I have done for myself. You won't be disappointed.
History: My mother-in-law(mil) had her left knee replaced in 2011 and she has arthritis in her left hip. Doctors do not want to replace her hip because of her age. With that in mind her mobility is extremely limited. My wife had her knee right knee replaced in 2004 and beginning around 2009 she has developed arthritis in her right knee. Although, she is able to walk around, it has become more difficult over the last few years. I was concerned that with their limited mobility and the pain both were in it was time to look into the purchase of scooters for both of them. I took both of them to a scooter store to see what the prices were for scooters. I got a big shock when i was told the for basic 3 wheel scooter would cost over $1700 for just one scooter. Solution: After our visit to the scooter store I decided to start a internet search for scooter. On fifth search i came across this scooter on Walmart. After reviewing the price($734) and what was provided with the scooter, i decided to purchase two scooters. When we received the shipping information it indicated six weeks for delivery. I am happy to report we got both scooters in ten days from the date I placed the order. That was plus. Putting the scooters together was easy. But, if you are a person who cannot lift heavy things i strongly suggest you have another person(hopefully) much younger to get the scooter out of the box and assemble it for you. After you get the scooter out of the box you will need to charge the battery for at least 24 hours. Once the batteries were charged, they got in there scooters like they had been using them for years (lol) riding around the house and the learning curve was almost non-existent. Pros: Scooter is small and easy to use. Learning how to drive the scooter will not take very long to complete, especially if you already have experience driving a car. Basically it is just a very small version of a car. The scooters are small enough that i was able to put both scooters in the back of my wife's Toyota Venza perfectly. Battery life is good for 15 miles. Cons: Scooter is heavy. If you have problems lifting heavy items this will be difficult for you. Unless you live in ranch style home or you are living in a retirement community that provides wheel chair/scooter access a ramp will have to be built to allow you the ability to move outdoors. If you plan on taking the scooter shopping you have to take into consideration how you are going to get the scooter to your shopping location. As i mention the scooter is heavy, so lifting the scooter to put it inside a vehicle will be a difficult. Also, the basket that comes with the scooter is very small, just big enough for a woman's purse. Since the battery life is good for only 15 miles i would suggest a second battery if you plan on spending all day shopping. A friend of ours suggested purchasing the second battery from Battery Plus. They indicated that they got there second batter for around $60. Recommendations: After watching my family get around in their scooters, I would recommend this scooter to other folks. The price is reasonable, it small, and easy to operate.
I got this for my grandpa and he wants a Shoprider like he had before but I got this one instead since it came with some optional features like a fog light and key to the scooter ignition. I was very surprised, this had a similar performance with Shoprider and it can go twice as far. It is a bit heavy like 95lbs but its worth all the trouble to maintain the scooter with proper weight. It comes in a big box and I recommend you if you want to put this in a car like a Yaris, throw the box out.
This product is excellent! The scooter has great range on one battery charge, and I found out from speaking to the manufacturer that this scooter has a weight limit of 300lbs vs the 250lb limit shown on the Walmart website. The only concern is that if you turn sharply, the scooter tips easily because it only has three wheels. Other than that, the product is fantastic and I would recommend it for anyone!
although the value for the money is good and the chair is easy to operate, outdoor manuvering can be difficult at times, and is easy to tip over if you get the least bit of road imbalance. if I had to chose again I'd get one with four wheels instead of three
