Pen writes smoothly and has a generous ink supply. The one thing to remember is to cap the pen when not in use.
I've always been a bit of an anachronist. I like fountain pens, but I don't have money for the really nice kind. (Maybe my wife will pick up the hints by my birthday.) But ever since I took up calligraphy as a teen, I've liked fountain pens over ballpoints, gels, felt, etc. If you think you might like to try writing with a fountain pen, this is the best place to start! These are affordable, neat, and low maintenance, but they maintain some of the fun parts of writing with a fountain pen. I like a bit of a wet line, and these are a little fine for me, but I think that's a feature for a new user. It's a little scratchy, but heck: it's a disposable pen, and expecting some fine German-made gold nib would be silly. In addition, if you are already a dedicated fountain pen user, you know the perils involved: ink runs out! I like a nice hefty pen for regular use, and I love to use varieties of bottled ink. So filling on the fly is a no-go. These are smallish, light, and don't take up a lot of room, while being a bit harder to misplace than a spare cartridge. The cap fits securely on the end while in use, making it a good sized pen for my admittedly ape-sized hands. All in all, don't hesitate: If you're on the fence, just buy it and try it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I have used these pens for 9 years now, and they are the best. I too like a fine point and found that if I rotate the pen 180 degrees I get a fine point feel and look (the word Pilot on the nib is facing down toward the paper). Sam's price is least expensive anywhere.
Always liked writing with fountain pens because they are so smooth. However, after purchasing several cartridge type pens, and nice ones at that, they always disappointed with ink flow problems and drying of ink on the tip. The varsity pen has not had this problem so far. Great pen for the quality and price can't be beat. Shipping was fast!
For those who appreciate the (lost) art of penmanship, this is a great everyday fountain pen. Inexpensive, lots of ink, and factory-sealed reservoir should mean no leaks. I wish that more ink colors were available individually -- I would like to try red and green without also having to buy pink, purple, etc.
These need to be on the shelves! They write very well, nib, ink flow, for a disposable, affordable pen. It would be great if teachers had a segment of history class or literature, journalism, when students experienced writing with fountain pens. Students could afford them. As long as the price stays where it is, it's a good value.
I use a pen regularly for work as a retail sales associate. Whenever I uncap this pen it writes on demand. Smoothly, comfortably, and consistently. My only complaint is that it prefers to be used upright (makes sense considering the design) and that people unfamiliar with its use don't know how to even hold it. I would deffinatly recommend this for someone who needs to wright frequently and wants to do so with a stylish and functional product.
I give these pens a 4 of 5 star rating. They're good and the ink lasts a decently long time. The price at Sam's beats anywhere else I could find. For a 5 star rating, I prefer a refillable fountain pen, also made by Pilot. That one's not too expensive and writes very easily. For a disposable, however, this one's very good.
I was excited to try this style of pen, I really enjoyed how it felt in my hand and the light pressure that's needed to write. Though its medium point it has a fine line and technic to it. It has skipped while writing. Overall I would recommend.
took 2 weeks to ship, quality is pretty good for the price, you do have to hold it at a certain angle for it to work.
