I bought this product a couple of weeks ago to work remotely from my home office. I previously tried a cheaper headset but I sounded like I was in a cave and ofter client's had a hard time hearing me. The quality of the Plantronics headset is superior. They are so comfortable that I forget I have them on. I also have a wireless version at my physical office which made me want to stick with Plantronics for my home office.
Product works exactly as described and has good sound quality.
We just purchased two of these headsets for new staff members and they both are impressed with these headsets. Easy to use, they do a great job in blocking out noise well on a call or listening to messages. Worth the investment.
Bought this a few weeks ago to replace an older model. The enhancement feature that the call is auto answered when you place the headset on is fantastic! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have two of these, a 520 and a 700 series. I like the quality of the sound, it's great for music, webinars and calls. However, the headband seems to have been designed for Frankenstein. When stretched on, the top becomes flat and puts pressure on the top of my head. For all day wear, that can become painful, in spite of the padding.
i just got hired as a at home call center rep i got this headset because i wanted something reliable an thats what i got, the headset works as good as it says, i have clear tone an the mic works wonderfully, i would certainly recommend this headset for anyone wanting a reliable reasonably priced headset
Pros: Great build quality, very quiet, good voice quality, eliminates background noise, cuts echos (assuming), comfy earpads, microphone conforms to your face (bendable). Adjustments for bass cut, mic enhancements (noisy room), loudness cut (people who both whisper and get really loud). Should be good for long calls (won't press and hurt your ears). Cons: They inject your voice into the speakers, which can not be adjusted or turned off. This throws you off a bit while talking. Not enough padding on top (or alternately) perfectly round on top. This puts more pressure on the top of your head, which is annoying. Missing advanced adjustments for music or movies like EQ, tonal, DSP effects (warm sound, dialog enhancements, stereo spatialization, treble boost). Also as with typical USB headsets, you can't adjust the sound quality like with analog headsets. So forget about using these for listening to music.
I like sound from Blackwire 500 headset but I am unable to work with them for periods longer than 30 minutes due to headband, with minimal padding, sitting uncomfortably on my head with both sides of headset extended to maximum. I cannot move entire headset higher up as it would mean that speakers sit on the upper and middle part of my ears. Another part of the design I find annoying is the microphone. It is located between headband and outside of the earpiece and in standard position when lowered it touches my cheek which would result in scratching noise if not adjusted. Once I adjust it to be further away, I cannot fold it back to vertical position without adjusting again as otherwise it would hit headband plastic This is minor inconvenience and might not be a bother for all users. I consider quality of used materials as very good.
Sound quality for phone is great, but for doubling as stereo headphones, find another product with a microphone. Even ear buds with a mic are just as good. The only good is the microphone, which filters additional noises. If it's for a phone, get the 1-sided Blackwire 510. If you want good sound, any home headset is better (including cheaper ear buds). These are uncomfortable if you want to use only 1 side. Also, too much pressure for a normal size head.
What happened? If this is the successor to C420 Plantronics really messed up. Build quality has gone down, now cheaper plastic is used and it shows, even the metal parts have been replaced with cheap plastic. I'm on my 2nd pair in only 2 months. The old C420 lasted me 4(!) years. Sound quality is horrible in comparison. I'm not joking when i say these sound like a pair of really cheap iphone ear plugs, where as the c420's were excellent for talk and media consumption. I would even go as far as saying the C420s were close to Koss Porta Pro's after a few hours of burn in time. The C520 are absolutely horrible for any media consumption, forget music. The sound is flat and boring, no characteristics at all and the music disappears into a broken sounding screech. The comfort is also worse, these are more stiff and has a tighter angle which makes them press really hard on your head. The C420 were excellent in this regard and you could keep them on for 8 hours straight, I cant do 8 minutes in these. Ive used the C420 over 4 years until they broke, sadly the c420 is no longer made and I now have to stick with these. Im not exaggerating, i'm very disappointed in these "premium" headphones. Make the 420 again!
