My husband has purchased other slide / negative scanners in the past and found them to be low quality and unsatisfactory. However, he is 100% satisfied with the Plustek OpticFilm 8100 scanner. The scanner and accessories are very high quality and perform perfectly, and the included software is outstanding. Overall, we would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to scan and convert their old slides and negatives to a high quality digital / hard copy format.
I bought this specifically to scan some old slides from the 50's - the 80's. Most are in mint to near miont condition and played great through an old slide projector. After working with the program and the slides I decided that this item just does not work well. It is a very easy item to use. Unfortunatley... I would scan the slide(s) and then I could adjust the quality of the scan but it turned out to be at about 50 percent of the quality I could get by just playing them through the original slide projector and pointing my HD Camcorder at the screen. Very dissapointed. Walmart did allow a no hassle return which I liked.
