We bought a couple of these like 2 years ago and they have been good. These are new and improved compared to the first ones and we expect to get several years use out of them. Little pricey, but worth it for the quality. I did find some on the shelf that were less expensive but they are going back on my next trip to the store, very poor quality.
This is my second pocket hose. I am not replacing the first that I bought over a year ago. This is to add length to the first one. It is easy to use and the shut off valve makes it easy to disconnect without getting soaked. I can then discharge the water in the hose where it is needed before putting the hose away.
I did a lot of research on collapsible hoses and decided to go with the "as seen on TV" Pocket Hose Top Brass, 75'. Pretty much works as advertised but not quite as perfect as seen in the videos, but I will say those video's are the 50' model. When I first opened the plastic packaging, it was tangled, but once I got it straightened out I had a bit of a learning curve (again, maybe because it's the 75' model) First, the hose needs to be pulled out to its full length before turning water on, and it needs to be straightened out when you turn the water off or it will not retract to it's shortest length (about 35') over all I love this hose.
We have a hose of this type by another manufacturer which we still own. We wanted to link the two together. This hose seems to be of more quality than the other one we have, in both fittings and overall product. The Pocket Hose works great by itself or linked. Expands and shrinks better than expected. My only caution would be (and I write this for this type of hose regardless of manufacture) is be careful where you drag it. Unlike the rubber and vinyl hoses, these hoses can snag easy and I would fear tearing a hole in the fabric, or worse, causing a leak. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hose.
Less than a month into using these hoses, it is already apparent that their lower weight and much greater flexibility are a real boon to senior gardeners. I have a seventy five foot pocket hose coupled to a 50 foot pocket hose and still the the entire combination hoses are easy to handle, and fit nicely into my garden hose store bucket. So far so great!
This hose is lightweight and easy to manage. Most importantly, it doesn't kink. A word of caution, you cannot let go of the hose while the water is running. The hose is so light and the water pressure so strong that it flaps around wildly. I wanted to fill up a kiddie pool. I couldn't even secure it with a rock. You must stand there and hold the hose.
My husband loves these hoses, the only thing is we have to buy a new one every summer because they wear quickly then start to leak, he does not drag it all over the place he picks it up and moves so he does not make it leak but in the end it does anyway, but because he likes the light weight of it he continues to buy another. would we recommend it yes but with the warning that they do wear out each year.
Very light, but after use it doesn't coil back up to a very short length - it coils some, but remains pretty long. My wife tells me directions say it should be stored inside, which we're not going to do - unhook it and taking it inside after each use if ridiculous - we leave it attached. I'm concerned about how long it will last. But, it's light, easy to use, and the brass fittings appear very high quality. Too soon to tell if it was worth the money.
If you live close to your Walmart this hose is quite functional. It will split and water will go everywhere in less than a month. But for large lots it is light and flexible. And the good news Walmart is excellent on returns. Just take it back and get another one.
It blew up like an over filled ballon.
