PINNACLE RING RADIATOR TWEETER 40 plus years of tweeter innovation, design and prototyping has led to the development of the new 1” high definition Pinnacle ring radiator tweeter. Developed for the Legend Series, it delivers ultra–clear, crisp highs without unwanted coloration or distortions. The Pinnacle tweeter features a finely tuned waveguide that dramatically improves the dispersion of high frequency energy ensuring a broad “sweet spot” while the critically damped rear–chamber helps to defeat any unwanted resonances. 5.25" TURBINE CONE Polk developed the new Turbine cone specifically for the Legend series to ensure the natural reproduction of the mid–range, the frequencies our ears are so sensitive to. The Turbine cone combines Polk’s proprietary foam core and the molded Turbine geometry which dramatically increases stiffness and damping, without adding mass, resulting in a smooth, detailed mid–range and effortless bass – hear every detail. ENHANCED POWER PORT Traditional bass ports make noise chuff and mask the low frequency bass notes you want to hear. The new enhanced Power Port® design smoothly transitions air flow from the speaker into your listening area for louder, cleaner bass while minimizing turbulence, distortion, and port noise. Polk refined their current Power Port technology specifically for the Legend series by fine–tuning the geometry of the port flare. Hear and feel the difference; Polk Enhanced Power Port® produces less port noise and more powerful clean bass than traditionally ported loudspeakers. HI RESOLUTION CERTIFIED Your sound is only as good as your source. With High–Resolution certification, the Polk Legend L100 delivers clear and detailed high–end response. Female vocals are smooth and detailed without coloration. Plus, a minimum support of 40kHz perfectly reproduces the latest high resolution audio files with improved audio extension. DESIGNED TO IMPRESS Completely redesigned from the ground up to deliver the best sounding Polk speakers ever created. this speaker is the pinnacle of the Polk promise of delivering the ‘best speaker in its class’.

A perfect center channel speaker replacement to go with my Polk LSiM 7.1 surround system. My original center channel speaker, Polk CS350-LS was distorting and needed replacement after 20+years of faithful service. I have always been a Polk customer since my first purchase in 1982 of the legendary Polk Reference Monitor System R.T.A. 12C which I still have in a reference stereo setup for music only. The home theatre with surround seems to get updated every 5-years as new tech becomes available. Main left and right channels are LSiM 705s and surrounds are provided by wall mounted LSiM705s. The new Polk Legend Center Channel Speaker L400 has been the perfect replacement for the CS350-LS. The performance of the L400 actually blends perfectly with the LSiM 705s and creates the perfect left-center-right integrated front sound for all our theatre listening from news to movies. The L400's great range enhances dialog depth while maintaining perfect clarity and voice positioning on all materials. If you have an older Polk surround system like the LSiM, be confident that the L400 will fit in perfectly. Highly recommend.
I was using a kef q350 with my polk r700s and r250 surrounds, but this thing blows that out of the water. I am very impressed by the quality and the uniformity of distribution. Should have bought this from the start!
As a 30 yr Polk fan I've collecting each series. I have 59 Polk speakers now including 6 Atium 8s 2 10in subs that's run by my Denon x150h. My bedrm has the x6400h receiver with 4 monitor 70 II and Csi6 2 505 subs. The other bedrm has the Heos 5.1 with S30 and 4 S20s and my livingrm runs the x8500h and complete set of Rti series 9s,7s,3s,Fxi6s, 2 Hts 12s and now the L400 which replaced the 706c. I thought the 706c was a fantastic speaker this L400 is much better. It's a large speaker about 40lbs with nice wood grain and dual ports. After all the other 2 way center speaker then go to 3 way as the 706c is I won't go back. The L400 is the best 3 way I've heard. I do suggest u give it time to beak in when I 1st got it the mid was a little tinny but after letting it run a few days now it's already clearing up so I know with more it will sound great. As u can tell I'm a complete SOUND UNITED HOME. I will highly recommend the Legand 400 over the other due to being 3 way and the wood grain the way it built. Thank u Polk for building so many complete sets of speakers for any budget from beginner to audio file listener from inside to outside speakers. Now I'm saving up for the other speakers in the Legand series to match the L400.
The L400 is the best center channel I've owned. This sits in between her big brothers (L800's) and delivers clear, accurate, and wide dimension dialog. I love being able to set the remote down and not turning the volume up and down to hear dialog depending on what the movie is doing. It doesn't matter if I'm 6 feet away from the L400 or 25ft away, or what seat you have on our angled sectional sofa as you will know the L400 its job. The L400 does a excellent job with streaming podcasts/talk radio, regular TV, sporting events, but really comes to life on 4k Dolby content. I run the L400 on my Yamaha a8a and have had it set at "small" and "large". I keep it set at "small" and it excels in that spec while running the L800s as "large" since I don't use a subwoofer, and don't really need to. The opening scene of Ghostbusters Afterlife felt like my wood floor was splitting in half and guess what, I could still hear every word regardless of what is going on musically or quaking in any movie. On some of my favorite 80's movies, while the recording quality itself is crap, the L400 seems to even out the dialog and still keeps everything clear. The L400....mic drop!
