My children had a blast watching the popcorn pop and enjoyed the taste of the finished product. I have had the benefit of Presto's hot air popper available to me since I was a child, so this was a bit of a change. I enjoyed the taste and the instructions are easy to follow with a table for how much popcorn to use and the amount of oil to add for desired serving sizes. I like the air-pop poppers for popping without the oil, but this works well. We opted not to use the butter melting feature on top of the bowl to make cleaning easier. It is nice to be able to use the popping bowl to hold the popcorn when finished. Just don't forget to put on the black lid or you'll have an oil/butter mess. Cleaning the heating unit is easy with the wipe of a paper towel once it cools.
I have my moms electric popcorn maker from the early 70s. It doesn't even have an on/off switch but I could never find one that worked as well until I tried the presto popper! It pops 98% of the kerns and as an added bonus I don't have to worry it's gonna burn down my house! Seriously though I have tried a ton of poppers and this one is the best!!
Sometimes I want both oil and butter on my popcorn, and this popper is fabulous! Electric stirri g ATM to ensure kernels don't burn. Large capacity lid/bowl with butter melter on top. Easy clean. Good recipes on the manufacturer's website. Attractive unit and packaging. I love to watch it stir and enjoy the fresh popped aroma. I use it all the time!
Presto Electric Stirring Popcorn Popper The Presto popcorn popper is easy to use and can make from two to six quarts of popped corn at a time. The first time that I used to popper I used vegetable oil and I was not that happy with the taste it was too oily tasting. Then I used popcorn popping oil the second time and it tasted great I was very happy with it. You can put butter in the top of the popping bowl and it will melt onto the corn as it pops if you like extra butter on your popcorn. When the popcorn is done you can flip the popping bowl over and use it as a serving bowl. I popped a six quart batch of popcorn and it took 5 minutes from start to finish, and there were very few non popped kernels in the bowl. The unit is easy to clean with soap and water, not the dishwasher. The stirring arm is easily removed for cleaning also. I like this better than other popcorn poppers that I have used in the past and would recommend it to my friends.
I really like popcorn and this is reminiscent of popping it growing up but no constant shaking of the pan—and no popcorn popping outside of the lid! In my attached pictures I fixed 1/2c. Of white kernel popcorn with 2 Tablespoons of popping oil. It only took a total of 4 min 25 seconds and every kernel popped. I used the Kettle Corn favoring I bought at Walmart. Very delicious. Better than microwave popcorn imho. Will be using this quite a bit.
The Presto 05205 Electric Stirring Popper is a really good product. I've been popping corn for over 60 years with on stove kettles and air poppers but this unit beats them all. It's as simple as can be. Just put in your popcorn seed with a little oil and turn it on and within about 5 minutes you have fresh hot popcorn just like at the movie theater. The secrete that makes it really good is the agitator that moves around the hot plate surface. It keeps the kernels moving and not letting them burn. This makes all the difference in the world. Additionally, the clear dome lets you see what is going on which also makes it quite visually interesting and also keeps the popcorn just at the right moisture level. When popping is done, just turn the popper over and you have a perfect serving bowl. This eliminates the need for extra dishes. When finished, cleanup is simple. Just wash out the clear bowl cover and wipe clean the no stick cooking surface. Invert the bowl and drop the cooker bottom into the bowl for compact storage. The only downside was the vents in the top cover needed a small brush to clean them thoroughly otherwise, everything was great. I would definitely recommend this purchase to any one for themselves or for a great gift for someone else.
WOW! What and easy way to make popcorn. Add a small amount of oil and the desired amount of popcorn. Place the lid on (which is also the bowl when turned over) and plug it in. Just listen for the popping to stop and you're done. No need to stand there watching it to pop or shaking the pan. The base has a nonstick popping surface and a scalloped electric stirring arm. The arm pushes the un popped popcorn around so the popcorn cooks evenly and leaves very little to no uncooked popcorn. Once you're ready to pop the popcorn place the lid on. On top of the lid is an opening to allow heat to escape but is also where you put softened butter (if desired). As the heat from cooking escapes it melts the butter and automatically butters the popped popcorn. Once the popcorn has finished popping unplug the base and put the cap on the opening of the lid. You can then grab the handles of the base and the lid and flip it over. Then remove the base and the lid is now a bowl. Add any additional seasoning and you're ready to enjoy your popcorn. Clean up is a snap as well. The base is again non-stick so just take a damp cloth and wipe the base and stir arm clean. The lid/bowl can be cleaned in the sink by hand with soap and water. (it is not dish washer safe). The only thing I don't like about this popper is I wish that they would have made it so you can unplug the power cord from the base instead of the wall. When flipping the base and lid over after popping the cord is hanging off the base and for me it is a nuisance.
Liked this popcorn popper. Most of all the corn kernals popped. Follow instructions and it taste delicious. I did not like the way extra seasoning like salt or cheese toppings settle to the bottom. The top inverts to a bowl for eating the popcorn which is really nice. But this bowl has ridges for steam to escape. It has a cover for the steam slits and when used as a bowl all the seasonings (if you use extra like we do) settles in the bottom in the ridges of the bowl. But other than that, I enjoyed this popper. First one we have had and we were impressed.
I am a Walmart Spark Reviewer, and I had the opportunity to review the Presto 05250 Electric Stirring Popper. I am a popcorn lover so I was excited as I removed this item from the box. It was easy to use and handle. I love that the instructions include a chart of the amounts of popcorn, oil and butter to measure for the desired amount of popcorn. Be sure to remove the top lid for the butter as instructed. I carefully followed the instructions. It is motorized and was quick to heat and start popping the popcorn. One thing that did not happen for me was the butter did not melt into the popper. I used one-third of a cup of popcorn. The instructions indicate soft butter. Next time I will let it soften more. The popcorn popped full kernels and all kernels popped. Users should not leave the unit unattended and be prepared to flip the popper immediately when the popping ends to prevent the popcorn from burning. Flipping the popper as instructed was easy. The cover can serve as the serving bowl, but I would recommend putting the lid on the butter dispenser area because it will become the bottom of the cover. It was easy to clean and store. I enjoyed the popcorn!
The Presto popcorn popper does a great job at popping popcorn. It pops every kernel. But there are some draw back to it. 1st there is no on/off switch. 2: The way you add butter to the pop corn doesn't work, in that the butter stays on top and doesn't melt. I just put the butter in with the oil and be done with it. 3: It made of plastic which can break if you drop the top. A big problem if you have kids.
