this product is so delightful, the price is so great. I would recomend this product
When I first tried it I ran into the same problem that the previous comment mentions, the response was bad. After getting acquainted with it, I discovered the hot spots on the pads (center area), and now the response is pretty good and close to realistic. You can even do some realistic snare drum rolls when played right. For the money you can't beat it (got it on Black Friday for only $30.00). It's a pretty decent digital kit to full around on, and it takes little space. I'm not too big into only being able to use batteries on it, so I'm wiring a 6v A/C plug into it. If the batteries weaken (which is pretty quick) the sound quality and reponse start to lack. The presets are a tad digital sounding, but overall I'm satisfied with it.
This model is about half that of the one found one First Act website, in music stores, and other general stores. On this model there is no second pedal for the high hat, this is observed from the packaging. What is not, is that both cymbals shown, both produce the same cymbal sound. The cymbals are way too loud, while the bass drum and snare are more quiet than the toms. On a drum set it is crucial for the up-beat that the snare sticks out, after than the bass drum is second; neither are heard over the cymbal. As mentioned in a previous post: the sensors on the pads are hit or miss, sometimes the buttons do not react. As a Musician i know how to hit in the center of the pad, yet i still the problem continues. I was looking forward to having the option to change sounds on each of the pads, but that function is not on this set, you must choose from complete sound sets, none of which sound complete. the sound of of the speakers do not sound well, plugged in with the head phones they sound "better," plugged into the tv they sound better than the speakers. i have not tried the record/play mode yet, since i originally planned on wiring it into my pc, to put cheap electronic basic percussion to an acoustic track i never recorded drums to in the studio. Surprisingly the best thing in the box are the sticks, which are decent quality. Made out of a plastic like fake wood, which would protect children hands from any type of splinter, yet they feel fairly natural at the same time.
Unless you hit the pads very hard -- and hold the stick for a moment -- the drums and cymbals don't work. In other words, if you're trying to teach your kid to really play, with a quick, gentle touch, this is not the set for you. Like everything else these days: looks good, nicely packaged, reasonable price -- too bad it simply doesn't work!
I had the same experience as others who reviewed this drum set. I had to return it because it was missing the cymbals! I was highly disappointed because it was a Christmas gift and my daughter was extremely sad when she couldn't play with it.
Might be a nice set if it came with all the parts< > cymbals were missing along with the ear buds.
