Just opened the box. Product looks nice. Love the black. Kettled was much quicker than my older one. It too was a Proctor Silex that lasted sixteen years.
I bought this kettle in 2010. Eight years later, it is still going strong! I bought it on sale, and it was a great buy for the price. Boils quickly, works well.
Great product for the cost.
Large capacity, and white. Just what I wanted.
A very nice kettle, serves the purpose
It works fine, but there are a few things about it I don't Iike. First, the cord comes out from the front of the base, so when I face the kettle outwards on the counter, so the steam doesn't hit the upper cabinets, it is awkward. Second, the lid isn't easy to open, so when you pull on it, drops of water fly everywhere. Third, you have to smack the lid to make sure it closes properly, and you still get a bit of water pouring out the sides of the spout.
The lid doesn't close well and I'm worried it might break. If the lid doesn't close the kettle just keeps on boiling - not safe.
This kettle is replacing my Proctor Silex cordless kettle which I have had for 25 years. This new one does not hold a candle to my old one. It is very noisy when heating, the stand is smaller & flimsy, the design of the kettle & attached lid & the cord coming out of the front of the stand are all disappointing features. I chose to buy another Proctor Silex kettle because I have been so impressed with my old one, which is now being temperamental & won't always heat anymore. I am so disappointed in this new one! Its appearance looks cheaply made. I would not recommend it.
