This was recommended from a friend who always plays it on vacation. We tried it and loved it. Like scrabble in your hand. Great for travel. Just a deck of cards and nothing else. We played with 3 people and 4 people. Even has an option for solitaire.
My Mom and I enjoy this word game very much! I wanted my own set of cards and Mom wanted an extra set for her winter home. You must like putting words together and the spelling of those words!
My wife and I were introduced to Quiddler many years ago by a friend. We probably play about 300 games a year, sometimes two or three a day. I just received two sets that I ordered which should last us several years. Our last set got sticky from suntan lotion because we played by the pool. Quiddler is a fun family game. One was given to me as a gift last Christmas. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased one this past Christmas to give as a gift. My grandchildren, ages 7, 10 and 12, can play this along side of adults. The rules are easy to understand and you need not be an expert speller of large words to play this game as 3 letter words can be used in every round. Play begins with each player receiving 3 cards. The next hand four cards are dealt. One more card is added to each consecutive round until the 10th card which is the final round. Players can make as many 3 or more letter words as they can using any or all of their cards. There are bonus points awarded each round if one player has a word using more letters than anyone else and/or if a player has more smaller words than anyone else. Each letter has a number value, much like Scrabble. At the end of each round you total your score for that turn, subtracting any letters you do not use. You never get a minus score. The lowest score you can receive at the end of a round is zero. You are also permitted to use a dictionary. It really is fun, challenges the mind and any person who can read can play, no matter what age.
We were introduced to this game by some friends while on vacation. It was fun and challenging, even for people without big vocabularies. It doesn't require knowledge of weird words like you need for Scrabble. You get points for the most words from a single hand, or the longest word, so you can make a bunch of small words and still win. Good for kids and adults. You will need to hold 11 cards, so if you have arthritis or for kids with small hands, you may want to use a card-holder of some type.
My sister introduced me to this game on game day it was so much fun I came home and ordered it for my home
It can be a big aid for youth learning vocabulary and how to spell, as well as for older minds that need to be kept sharpened.
My husband and I had heard much about Quiddler and finally bought a game and we LOVE it. We try to play daily.
We LOVE Quiddler!!! My only suggestions are in regards to the instructions, namely: 1) Put back the section about how many of each card-type are included in the deck which was part of the instructions in older versions of the game. 2) Shuffling the cards between each round is a huge time waster. Please remove or replace that instruction. Maybe treat it more like Gin Rummy or any other card game where there is a pick-from pile and a discard pile. Once you run out of pick-from cards - THEN shuffle.
This is a fun game that is easy for all ages to play. It only takea about 30-45 minutes to play and is easy to take in roadtrips . We really enjoy it!
