After my best friend recommended Rachio, I was hesitant to put in my new house. However, my father needed to replace his controller, so I recommended Rachio and helped him install it. After hearing his additional positive feedback for o0 days, I decided to purchase one. I had my 14 year old son help install it to learn some basic electronic skills. Total install time was about 45 minutes for 18 zones. Experience thus far has been 100% positive. Highly recommend.
My product arrived in one day. My lawn service recommended this product and it was in stock and on sale!
This is my second Rachio-3. After installing one at our previous home, I figured I would try an existing controller in our new home. I soon realized the Rachio is so much simpler and easier to set up. Swapping the new Rachio-3 for the existing futzy controller took about 35 minutes from unboxing to completion of setup.

I had seen the ads on social media for over a year and wanted to buy the system to replace an antique Rainbird controller from the 1990s. The only problem was the 16 zone limit and I had 17. Well I finally researched and found that doubling up zones is doable as long as there is sufficient water pressure to run the 2 zones simultaneously. This was easier than I thought and I regret not buying it sooner. The Rachio app allows me to run the entire system from anywhere I am. It uses local weather to adjust and skip days which s huge!! Super easy to install and run!
Love that I can share my system with my landscaper. They can test zones, observe watering conditions and schedule and I get to stay in the know. This is my second system and a must for vacation properties. Here is my dog loving the freshly watered lawn.

Very easy to install. The app is very functional. It even has a a weather skip. So if it rains, it will skip your scheduled run. Makes my watering effortless. Love it!
The ability to easily add a short run after dusk during extreme summer heat was a water saver. While predawn runs occur while sleeping, the evening run had neighbors and myself concerned as water was running down the street from the yard drainage pipes. The use of the cellphone to turn zones on and off with the Rachio App helped locate the culprit zone. Since the leak was underground, it took short runs to pinpoint the exact location. The digging effort was minimal because of Rachio control. A broken threaded 90 was able to be extracted without cutting. Testing could be performed with the Rachio App to check each sprinkler head now that full pressure had been restored to the zone. The precise ability to remotely turn on and off a zone is greatly appreciated and made the repair a one person task without calling for professional assistance. A savings of water and repair costs occur as each zone is easily examined by the homeowner for analysis and improvement.
The concept is good and the watering happens on schedule... once you get thru the steps for each valve. So many tabs across the top (faded out and easy to miss) and bottom. It would be easier if the controls for each valve were in one place...description, days, timing, etc. Also, for a California native garden, you're supposed to water one hour for 3 consecutive days then nothing for several weeks. I haven't discovered a calendar option in all these tabs. Still, it's great to be able to control from my phone.
