I was so impressed with the Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller that I installed a few years ago, I bought two Smart Hose Timer to ensure our new trees get adequate water to survive the hot Texas summer. Timers have been installed for 6 weeks...work as expected so far.
very easy to setup and the app works wonderfully. only detail was the plug in cord for the wifi had a difficult time staying connected but I was able to get that resolved. Literally, the easiest setup out there. I had ordered 2 others and both were very difficult to setup so I just returned them and tried this product and it has worked very, very well.
Went on vacation to Florida. Used them to water our in ground plants. Has done a great job so far we'll find out for sure when we get back from vacation.
I really like the ease of use with this timer. It is easy to connect to my phone, and using Homebridge, I was able to bring it into Apple HomeKit. I bought two of these, one to control a mister on my patio and one to control the irrigation for my herbs and vegetables. So far have had no issues with them.
Very buggy and many basic features are lacking. As soon as I unboxed it and tried to set it up, the power adapter wasn't working. This is such a common problem that they automatically ask in the app and ship a new one. Once that began working, it was a pain to set it up. There is no way to start and stop the valve - you can only set up a timer. The updates don't work. The connection is often broken even if the valve is next to the hub.
I've been a long time user and in fact have recommended your timer numerous times, probably sold a half dozen. Valves were not intuitive to integrate into app. Literally could not find valves on appt without 2 calls for help. Still haven't been able to program them to run consecutively. App for valves needs work.
The valves seem to work just fine. The App on the other hand does not work like it does for the Rachio 3 system I have. It is the same app but the offerings under the valves vs. the controller is very different. Since Rachio has no intension of working to improve the App, I would look for a different system valve for watering your garden.
This was a gift and the recipient found it would not connect to WiFi. Numerous calls to tech support who were responsive but suggested it was a power issue and changed out the same part twice. Now they are sending a new unit after nearly 3 weeks of failed analysis. It is hopeful that the new product works or it all will be returned for credit. The goal was to have it in place before the recipient departed on travels but now will need a neighbor to manual water the garden.
Bought direct from Rachio. Could not get the Hub to Connect to Wi-Fi. Told me to get a new Phone or Tablet. This was after spending hours on the phone, returning the first shipment, spending hours on the phone trying to get the replacement to work ( same issues as first), returning the replacement. Terrible service every step. Said they'd shipped replacement when they hadn't given it to UPS. Were not processing refund until called them two weeks after return. Meanwhile can buy the same thing at Costco for half the price & get immediate refund when it doesn't work. Have a Rachio irrigation controller that's great and always had great communication. This was obviously a big disappointment.
I really wanted to like it. It's got some cool tech and it's convenient when it works, but with the hub constantly disconnecting because the power cable is so loose to the valve smart hose only working for a couple of months because the batteries leaking inside of the device causing them to drain very quickly, this is not worth it. Waste of money.
