I wanted a traditional cast iron dutch oven so that I could start making slow cooked stews and pot roasts. We need to add more iron to our diets and this is a good way to do it. Some of the pricier, prettier cast iron dutch ovens out there were just too heavy for me to lift and carry. This is extremely convenient because the wire handle is already built in and the size is perfect for the meals I prepare for my family.
