I have owned this little TV for 9 months. It has worked flawlessly, and has an excellent picture. I love the multiple RCA inputs AND the OUTPUT jacks. I can hook up a DVD recorder AND a VHS recorder to this TV and STILL have a set of inputs for my Videocamera! I could even record to my VCR and my DVD recorder at the same time, from either the TV or my Videocam. Best little unit I have seen for the money. i
Very Happy with the product digital channels looks very bright very sharp i can see the locals hd channels the signal is sd but hd channels looks very sharp very good quality picture.
I have to say I am very impressed with this television overall. It has an outstanding picture (on digital channels) that rivals and even surpasses some entry EDTV LCD sets. Sound quality is on par with the size of the set - in other words the sound is "small", but so is the picture. Audio outputs for connection to a home theater are provided. My only concern is with reliability, where I am uneasy. Originally I purchased the 20" version of this set, and my sample had a very poor picture - clearly defective - and sold out when I returned... so I settled with this 14" version and am quite pleased. Let's face it folks, CRT televisions are at the end of the line. Sets like this are on the market only because a 15" LCD set with a decent picture can't be offered at this price point - yet. You have to accept a set like this for what it is... a budget model. Having said that, at least this is the best budget model of this size I've seen.
I rate this TV as excellent, not because it has all the bells and whistles, it doesn't, but because for a 14" TV...this thing rocks! For the price...it rocks on!! Seriously, this TV is a great value and well worth the money. I like it so much, I'm going to buy a 2nd one. I bought the original to put in my RV, so the 2nd one is going into my home as our bedroom TV (which is where I tested the 1st one). In analog mode, the tuner isn't the greatest in the world. It doesn't pull in the signal as well as my other analog TV's do (all connected to the same attic TV antenna and signal distribution system). A strong analog signal is fine, but there's noise (static) on the weaker signals that I didn't see on Magnavox LCD TV I replaced with this one. That's not a big deal, in less than a year, there won't be any analog signals anyway. The digital tuner is great. I even found a couple of new stations I didn't know were on the air yet when I let it auto-search for digital stations. The picture is pure, clear and colors are spot on. THe normal color, contrast, brightness, hue, etc. controls work fine and hold station to station. The one tiny drawback to digital TV (and I've seen this issue on a LOT of other digital TVs) is when you have the TV setup in "normal" mode (16:9) and a 4:3 picture comes on a digital channel....it shrinks top and sides so you don't get a full screen picture. There is a zoom control that makes it full screen...but it's not automatic..you have to do it by hand. Other than that tiny thing (and it is NO big deal to me), this TV is perfect for my uses and well worth the money. Not only would I reccomend it to others, I'm buying a 2nd one for me!
We were looking for a small TV to replace one in our kitchen which did not have a digital tuner. This set is boxy and kinda' ugly, but it was a great value and was less than half the price of a LCD-type TV. It's CRT screen is flat and produces an excellent picture. Sound is so-so, but typical of a small set. I think CRT sets are no longer in production, so if you need a small TV, ready for digital, at a great price, now is the time to get one as they are being closed out!
The TV is overall a good product. However, one feature is disappointing. The sleep button on the remote doesn't shut the unit off like a normal sleep control on other TV's. In fact I can't get it to shut off at all. Other than this I like the product.
We use this tv on the patio with just a rabbit ear antenna and the picture is very good. I like the on screen program guide in digital mode. The sound quality is just average and is the weak point of the unit. We have had it about 5 months and no problems.
SDTV ready, and A/V jacks on the side are useful.--Sound-- The speakers have a flat sound, lower tones are pretty much non existent, or very soft. --Picture-- I'm not sure if it's just my model, but there are very noticeable bands of color in mid-tones, when watching a dark movie, game, or show this can be annoying. Though colors are vibrant, and the contrast is great. --Menu-- Simple, easy to use/navigate, remote has a small area dedicated to menu buttons. All in all, this is great TV for a bedroom, den or dorm (current use), the size allows it to be tucked in a corner, and moved around quickly.
Sound is horrible. If you delete a channel on the Lists & Labels section, you'll never get it back. Not even a TV tech can get it back. Thompson TV's (owner of RCA) call center said I was lying when it wouldn't let me add the channel back. Their call center is certainly poor at best. So I'm stuck with a tv that won't get one of our local channels. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying this tv.
We purchased this TV for our son it only worked about nine months. We contacted RCA and they would not do anything unless we provided the original receipt. (Who keeps reciepts for nine months). We are now looking for another TV but are staying away from RCA Brand!
