Red Dead Redemption is a great game that seems oddly similar to Grand Theft Auto IV, so if you are a GTA fan then you will love Red Dead Redemption, it is essentially GTA with a Western theme to it. You are thrust into the game knowing little about yourself other than you have the choice of freely doing whatever you want for the most part, you can either go the way of the lawful gunfighter or the woman beating, bank robbing scoundrel, it is all up to you. Great game, a must have for any 360 owner who is looking for the next big hit. - Jason
This game is genius. When it comes to video games, the "Old West" theme has proven difficult to pull off. Rockstar, however, has made it look easy. There are so many things to do in this game. There's never a dull moment.
I would definitely say that this game is a must have for anyone who liked the first red dead and any of the grand theft auto's since it has the same feel. Rockstar has done a great job with this game and created a very interesting storyline. Once you beat the storyline, there are still many other missions and achievements that you can earn that creates a great overall game.
Recently picked this one up. Good gameplay, the storyline is consistent and intriguing. It's nice to see something beside modern and futuristic shoot-em-ups. That said, it really is an RPG without having to distribute your stats around... you just play. Rockstar did a really nice job with the graphics and did well on the "feel" of the good 'ol frontier days. The mature rating is fairly accurate... there is some language and some nudity (kept to a minimum for dramatic effect, so far), and, of course, lots of blood and violence. Think Clint Eastwood westerns. Parents should use discretion. The world is large and open ended. You can pretty much do anything except swim (found that out the hard way!!) Good replay value... play once as the good guy, then play again as the bad guy. The story and people play out differently. Fun game!!
As a Wal-Mart associate it is my job to recommend the best merchandise to our customers, and as a hardcore gamer it is my DUTY to tell you that this game absolutely rocks! From the single player story mode, to the massive online free roam, this game is deffinately a value. I will say though that this is NOT a game for all ages. Language is something thrown around in the single player mode and as always you have to watch out for the older players who speak without filters online. If you want a game that allows you to relive the "old west" then this is the game for you. With everything in your arsenal from powerful rifles to sticks of dynamite, there are limitless possibilities when deciding how to wipe out the competition. All around, this game EXCEEDED my expectations and definitely gets my top rating!
This is one of the greatest games i have played to date, namely due to the fact Its basically like GTA4 set in the early 1900s. With a vast landscape to explore and the freedom to do virtually anthing you want, this game will have you entertained for hours on end.
As a electronic assoicate i am able to see many games come through. But none have surpassed my expectations like Red Dead. This open world wild west adventure places you in the middle of a living world. It has vast open deserts to the big city. This game also has a living ecosystem you will see predators hunting prey and hunting you. But what impressed me the most it is not just a GTA copy cat. It gives you a choice to be the hero or villian the good thje bad or the ugly. It also has all the activites you come to expect in the wild west from cattle ranching to dueling at high noon from robbing a bank to hunting outlaws. If you own a PS3 or a 360 go out and get this game now!!!!!
The world of the game is beautiful and convincing. The voice acting is top-notch. The "Dead Eye" aiming mechanic is very fun. The game controls similar to Grand Theft Auto 4, which is a mixed bag. There are mid-mission checkpoints, unlike GTA 4, which is VERY helpful. The story is great, and the characters are varied and interesting, given the wild west setting. Please note, the game takes place in 1910, which is the transitional period from the old west to the beginnings of "modern" society (industrial revolution, etc).
For such a huge map, there doesn't seem to be that much to do. Hopefully this will change with some D.L.C.. Campaign: Controls are tight. Interesting story/cut-scenes. Multi-player: Matches were easy to find, although it appears it's 4 versus 4. Not as polished as the C.O.D./Halo franchise. Bottom line? I would buy it again.
This is the best Western console game I have ever played. The graphics are eye-popping. The sound and music is sweet. There is lots to do and see. It is a huge game environment to play in. Some parts of the game seem to have been rushed (graphic glitches, game freezes at times, odd behavior of characters, background sound cuts out at times, etc). There are things I would have liked to have been able to do within the game but the designers left them untouched. More random events would have been nice also. I wish the company had done more effort for off-line players than adding stuff for online. This is an adult oriented game. So make sure you are buying this for an age appropriate person. I preordered this game. Sixty dollars is high for me to pay for a Xbox 360 game. However, I received a $20 gift card for preordering (which I used to buy a plug-n-play controller). The game came faster from Walmart.com than stated. It arrived with a pack of Rock Star western themed playing-cards. Nice job Walmart.com. I will use your web site for future orders.
