I was able to fit 2 large coolers and a 5 gallon gas can. Easy to assemble and lightweight. Glad I bought this.
Easy to assemble and install. I would recommend gluing the rubber feet to the carrier or using a rubberized mat under the carrier. Be sure and check the straps as instructed. Worked like a charm and held quite a few items. Bought it because ran out of trunk and interior space in which to pack things for a move, but will use over and over and over again :) Used on a 2006 Toyota Camry
I have never owned a roof rack before, but I do certain events where I not only carry two Ez Ups but stock and camping equipment. I have outgrown the packing capacity of my Altima so needed options. I got this and used it this past weekend. I was as nervous as a cat for the first hour driving, but after I pulled off to a rest stop to check everything, I was fine. This roof rack worked like a champ. It took all my overflow, three tables, two canvas/tarp rolls and a bedroll, tied down with straps and a tarp, like a pro. No slippage and no issues. It is light weight and easily handled by a handicapped person (me). One thing I will say to the negative, the tightening straps if closed in the doors to prevent them from flapping around and driving you nuts, will wick rain water into your car. Very minor inconvenience considering the positives.
I love this works great for all my adventures ive been taking into the mountains. It stays on tight and there is alot of space to pack different things around in it. i have it on a 1989 nissan semtra. It has a nice fit. Ive had to use gorilla glue on the roof pads to secure them onto the pads mount part, which does a nice job securing the pads to the mounts . I did that because i did read the reviews before i purchasd the roof carrier so as i assembled it initially i glued them all on and let dry overnite using gorilla glue i found the glue at walmart by paint or automotive dept. . Yeah, so i do recommend this product. This is what i really needed. Like it alot. And one more comment: i was so unawre how useful this product has been for me life works better for me having room inside my car now my money was well spent when i purchased this product. I couldnt find this product out on display IN store only online. The price was fair. I was able to buy online and in store pickup the next morning. Like that sevice !
Bought it for a camping trip. Fit all our gear on it, nice to not have the car packed full inside. Held more than I expected from reading the description. Sturdy metal frame. My only disappointment is the plastic feet and the THIN rubber boots for them. Plastic feet didn't fit the contour of the roof so there are little gaps and the little rubber covers really are close to worthless. I mean they kept my paint protected from major scratches, but not sure how many times I will be able to use it before they give out.
After receiving my Reese Rack and had it home, I found it quite easy to assemble. Taking the unit to the car I found that the foot pads for the rack leave a bit to be desired as far as staying on(gluing them on is my solution)when you initially place the unit, but after securing they work just fine. The directions seemed a bit vague as far as attaching the straps, but with a little common sense you can figure it out fairly easily. We also purchased a Reese 15 cu ft waterproof carrier bag to go with this to solve our packing needs. I have yet to travel to FL from OH with it, but see no foreseeable problems. All in all I think it is a very sturdy unit that will hold a decent load and give us a lot more room inside in that we travel with 2 cats also and make this trip 3-4 times a year! For the price it can't be beat.
The carrier was easy to assemble and not difficult to deploy, and it easily held several bulky but light items, giving me more room inside my vehicle for delicate equipment.
i liked the rack however, the clips didn't work on my car (hhr) So I bought the clips for rightline cargo carrier and they worked perfect.
The Assembly was straight forward. The mounting feet need modification{a ball joint and or pillow or rubber cup feet.}The tie down straps Vibrate in the wind. The tie down clips are not to be trusted. I put two tie down rope's through the car interior. exterior paint was quite good, But rust drips out of the inside of the tubes in the rain. The tube plugs don't seal well enough to keep moisture out. A good kit to build if your handy, and resourceful.
This is actually a nicely designed rack, but you have to assemble it all yourself. It turns out nice and sturdy, while still being fairly light. That being said, I had two major problems with it. 1. The rubber pieces that cover the feet where they sit on the car do not stay on at all. A very poor design feature. You have to be very careful to keep them in place before you mount it to the car or they will fall right off. 2. This rack was designed to fit a flat roofed car only, and is not able to mount correctly on a car roof that is curved from front to back. I bought it to go on top of a 2007 Nissan Altima, and the feet are not able to sit flat at all. I loosened up the mount bolts for the foot attachments to see if that might help it align itself when I tightened the straps, but it did not help. Pulling the straps tight still only let the feet sit on the points instead of sitting flat. Couple that with the rubber pieces that do not snuggly attach, and it it not a good situation at all. I thought I still got it attached fairly well, but we went over a good bump once and knocked the straps loose. Bottom line, if you have a flat roofed vehicle from front to back, this will probably work quite well for you, but if you have a curved roof, try another rack. I am going to try to return this one.
