This hitch isn't for all vehicles. I purchased it and it didn't work on my SUV. I suggest googling Reese's item # 37042 application chart to see if it will work on your vehicle before you buy it because it is very heavy. Unfortunately, Walmart doesn't carry the hitch I need. www.reese-hitches.com
have a 1978 GMC C25 so nothing easy to find for it. decided to try this and it fit without any modification's and only drilling two holes. Took several hours to mount but would have taken much less time with vehicle that it was designed for but was worth it.
as stated on box Good thing I took it to my long time mechanic, whom I bribed a 18 pack of Coors Light to wave fee. Turns out, they hooked up wiring harness to make it Trailer towable charging me $35, as i didn't specify clearly that it was going to be used soley as a Bike Rack, my blunder. So it needlessly became $52 (beer $17 + wiring). Extra hole on each side of brackets had to be made as holding rig does not accomodate it correctly, mechanic having proper tools took additional hr, whereas it would have taken me much much longer. All in all, took my mechanic 4 hrs to get wiring harness & special holes drilled to get it finally modified into Chrysler Town & Country. Mechanic was mad it took so long (should be under 20 min.), but I am happy as a lark as i only paid $52! Not only that, I'm keeping this Multi Fit Hitch for other SUV's I have down the road as I now know this Hitch is TRULY Multi Fit, fitting my Van, only paying $52! Never departing with this awesome, and now truly, Multi Fit!!! ... with wiring harness to boot!!!
I needed a front hitch for my truck. It worked great. Only problem was after I got it together I had to take it apart several times in order to fit it on my truck. It doesn't go together as shown when you put it on the front, which I found out the hard way. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because they could have told you that it will work on the front and the process of how you might install it. FYI my truck is a 97 Silverado and all you have to do is remove the tow hooks and mount the hitch upside down to get the right height.
The product arrived in a timely manner. Even though it said it would fit my car, my car wasn't in the instruction manual. I picked something that seemed similar to my '03 Mazda Tribute. I couldn't figure out how to get the bolts through the frame. I went to the companies web site, and they had a video for my vehicle. It said to use the holes in the side of the frame. But, they already had the bolts in and didn't show that process. I think they did that because their are no freaking holes like they are talking about. I promise you. I wen't all over, and there was no way to get the bolts in the frame. So, I took the spare tire cover out, and cut holes through the top, where it wasn't structural. If you have the same problem. this may be your solution. You won't weaken the frame, and will not see the holes unless you have a flat, and need the spare. So, after that, I had to bolt the brackets, opposite of what the instructions said, because there was too much of a gap, and no way to secure the piece with the hitch. But, once I got all of that sorted out, the hitch works great. I've used it a few times with no issues. Overall, I like the product.
bought it online and said on page I could pick up in store the next day , got a email saying that it would be 3 to 4 days and was being shipped , it made it to the store and I picked it up , next day went to install and it no way could have fit , called Reese and they told me that the app chart was wrong in many cases , returned to walmart and the service person had just taken another one back earlier that morning , , it is a well built hitch and weighs alot and if you buy one call Reese up first and ask them what model number you need and save the head ace and foul words by getting the right hitch the first time . I went to U-Haul and got a hitch
Item was returned because it was advertised incorrectly on WalMart's website and would not fit my vehicle. Reese is a great product and I did find the correct Reese hitch for my vehicle on Amazon for same price.
does not fit my truck even thoughsaid it would .like to return this but not sure how to do so an get my money back
Even after I looked this part # up and it said it fit, when I got it home it would not line up. The bracket holes were 1/2 inch off from the holes on my frame. Tore my name off the box where site to store had put the labels and BAM! there it said it would only fit up to a 98' Jeep Grand Cherokee and mine is a 2004. Took it back for refund. Would help if the website made what it would fit 100% CLEAR!
The name and description suggested it was a universal hitch when in fact it was not. The PDF attached to the website even states that it would fit my 300 yet the truth is that it would not fit. The predrilled holes would not match up and the bolts didn't match thread size or pattern. It was a cheap waste of money to be honest.
