I love the product but mine came slightly damaged. Just one of the top screw on deals was broke (it still worked and served its purpose) but I was able to swap it with a different one on the product since I was worried that where it was originally place it could cause my toddler to possibly cut her finger. Not all may have that option since one side of it is blocked from my toddler and I could please the broken piece on that side, I also dont think it was caused by the makers, I think it was just handled too rough coming through the mail.
This gate is very easy to install takes about 10 minutes and is perfect for large openings it works so well I will be ordering a second one for another large opening I have in my home
I bought this gate for my babys nursery,he may not be here yet but it works very well to keep the dogs out of the room. I love the fact it is metal and how easily the door opens and shuts. It was not to hard to put it up!
I bought this a month ago for my busy 8 month old boy and it works perfectly for my irregular shaped bottom of the stairs. And best of all it only took me 15 minutes to install!
Bought the gate for tri-level lower steps with 1 flat wall and step extended past opposite wall, so was able to configure the 3-piece gate around the step to attach to opposite perpendicular wall. Easy to open with one hand. Only problem was a crack in the bottom hinge part which I have yet to contact the company about a replacement, so don't know how easy that will be. However it doesn't affect our use of the gate and it keeps the 11-month old from climbing and falling down the stairs.
Overall this is a wonderful gate for securing those large or awkward openings. The brackets that mount it to the walls, however, were incredibly poorly designed. The screw holes line up with the bar that the bracket is attached to, leaving no space for a driver - so you have to drive the screws in at an incredibly awkward angle. The bracket should be redesigned such that the screw holes are on the left and right edges, offsetting them from the attached bar and giving you space to drive the screws straight into the wall.
So we purchased this gate for our playroom to keep our 8 month old contained. It serves its purpose but it's very flimsy. The bottom portion of the door can be pushed open and it makes me a little nervous she will get her fingers caught. Also, it's not sturdy. It's anchored to the wall but the footings at the bottom of the anchor points to not sit firmly on the ground so it wobbles. The locking mechanism works but it's, again, cheaply made (my 8 month old could almost get it unlatched herself). Again, it serves the purpose but is definitely not top of the line.
I was hesitant to buy this after reading other reviews, but there are not a lot of options for gates covering 75 inch openings. It looks nice. Its design is not ideal. It is very easy for an adult or child to move it. But my one year old daughter was able to pull herself up to standing position with it and it did not move far, buckle, or cause her to fall. Since she is the one we bought it for, it seems to be useful for its intended purpose. I don't know if it would hold up to a toddler actively trying to escape, however. What I truly hate is the latch system for the entry point. I did not pay close enough attention to that part of the design before purchasing. It is difficult to latch and unlatch with one hand compared to another gate we have. You cannot just let it swing shut. The latch will fall into the wrong position and cause the gate to stay open. It also opens one way only instead of in both directions, which is a problem if my child moves herself or a toy directly in front of it. Overall, unless it breaks immediately (we have only had it two days), I am not planning on returning it. It suffices. But it is not great. One last note, my husband had no problem installing it, but he did have to use an extender on his drill. It would be much more difficult without an extender for the drill bit.
It is too flimsy for any child over the age of 16 mos. I have it up because I need it. But I need it off the floor so I have to support the attach points so it doesn't sag. It has to let my cats under while keeping my Granddaughter out of the kitchen and Cat food. When I received this I had one bent rod. It still works, but still. It's opening is about 14 inches sides which is great if you are 14 in. Wide. You have to go thru sideways. Also there is a bar across the bottom of the openning and that is a tripping hazard. And if you do suspend it the side that gold the door falls out. So then you have to put a bolt thru it to hold it in place.. Screws are the worst, the heads are Phillips but the metal is so soft they strip out before you can get it tightened all the way.. We had to find screws of our owm that would work with the gate without damaging anything.
I'm sure this gate would be fine for most, but I purchased it to use in conjunction with another Regalo gate I own (I wanted to take a panel from my current gate and add it to this new gate to make it a bit longer). Based on the photos shown for this gate, the two gates should have been compatible, but the one I received has different hinges than the one pictured so they're not compatible. Sadly, I will have to return this purchase.
