We decided to get this gate to keep a new puppy within a certain area that had no carpeting while we house break her. But the area included a computer room, bathroom and kitchen as well as the front entry hallway. So, we needed something that can allow people to get through easily. We set it up within a 48" space and it is working beautifully. Have been using it for over a week.
47 inch gate that fits My 48 inch archway! Perfect for new puppy and very sturdy for my 80 lb older dog.
great gate takes a few mintures to pull up very studly gate fit my door and i have a very wide door 52 inchs wide one thing my dogs are small dogs and they can go bequin bars but on the whole it keeps them out good value
I wish the initial opening was a bit wider for you to walk through, I have molding on the baseboards, had to install above the molding, I have a little bit of a stomach, and my pregnant wife, out stomach hits and we have little bruises. Other than that the gate is perfect
the gates are as described. both of the ones i bought have some minor challenges. on onevthe hinge rod didnt fit right. it reqired a hammer and some lightbtapping to get it positioned correctly. the other one has an issue with the door. at the bottom of the door, there is a piece that fits over the bottom rail to hold the door in place when closed. it is too narrow making itbtoo tight and difficult to maneuver. you don't know this until its too late. the instructions were easy to follow. both gates are up and im learning to work with their unique quirks. i assumes with use itcwill get easier
The picture shows the way my grandkids would push it out of the door frame. This gate didn't last long. It's already trashed. I have 11 grandkids, all under 8. They tore the gate down time after time. The opening was narrow. Adults were turning sideways to pass through. It could be screwed into the wall. But I didn't do that because I had only planned to put the gate up when the grandkids were at my house. Maybe screwing it into the wall would have given it more support.
I bought this because I needed a gate to fit my 43½-inch-wide hallway, and this was pretty much the only wide walk-through gate on the market that claimed to be pressure-mounted. (I was hoping to avoid drilling into the walls.) But although the description for this item clearly states that it can be pressure-mounted OR OPTIONALLY hardware-mounted, the actual item and the instruction manual have warnings that seem to imply that hardware-mounting is required and pressure-mounting is unsafe. It is physically possible to tension-mount the gate by itself, but the instructions seem to indicate that using the included wall cups, which screw into your wall, is required for safety. There is a big orange warning sticker on the gate that says, "You MUST install wall cups to keep gate in place. Without wall cups, child can push out and escape." And indeed, the gate did feel like it was at risk of slippage when just tension-mounted. I did end up using the screw-in wall cups. This was not the only troublesome safety warning. The instruction manual says that there must not be a gap of more than 2½ inches between the gate and the wall, but I found this to be impossible to achieve for my hallway width and with the extension sizes provided (even though my hallway width is within the supported range). I had to leave a wider gap. In general, it just seems like the advertised features for this gate are not actually consistent with the safety warnings. A final problem I had was that once the gate was assembled, the door was very difficult to open and close, because the metal "saddle" whereby the door sits on the gate frame was extremely tight, so I had to exert a great deal of force to open the door. I fixed this by using a screwdriver to pry the saddle wider by force, and now the door is much easier to open. Now that I have the gate installed and have accepted its limitations, I'm satisfied with it in operation. But I wish it worked like it claimed to out of the box, and without me having to decide between complying with the safety instructions and getting the advertised features.
The gate "attaches" by pressure against the doorway. The screw-in adjustment rods are not very stable. They need something more solid on the inside of the tubing to screw into. The rods end in attached round rubber pads which push against the sides of the doorway. The pads can fit into the 4 solid plastic "cups" which are supplied, to be screwed into the doorway and this helps to make it more secure. This might fit more securely in some doorway widths.?? Our opening is approx. 46".
Bought on November 4th. Here it is not even January 4th and it's already broken. One of the screw things to keep it pushed into the wall won't stay so it has no leverage. The tiny gap between the gray thing and wall in my included photo means that every time someone opens the gate, the whole side moves and when you go to close it, it is uneven and will not latch. It has to be perfectly level to be able to latch correctly. Not a very good design. I have 4 of their other style baby gates for two years now and they are still doing good. Not to mention this one is in the laundry room, and use is minimal compared to my other ones. This one didn't even last two whole months yet. For $70, I am very unhappy and would look elsewhere.
Although I read reviews prior to purchase it decided to buy the gate after all. Poor decision on my behalf this gate arrived damaged the supposed locking mechanism was bent, the two extentions were useless. I purchased this gate for a 47 inch opening neither extention was useful. We returned the product. I do not recommended and I will not purchase a Regalo product again!
