We have a RV and the bed sets up very high. I was afraid that my pomeranians would try to jump off the foot of the bed and get hurt. I put this up at the foot of the bed and we had a wonderful trip with no accidents at all! I know it was meant for a side rail but it sure worked great for keeping the dogs from jumping off the bed!
Believe it or not, this bed rail was for my peronal use. I am 80 now and fell out of bed twice and after that I felt I needed some help with my problem. The rail is working fine for me and I feel I made a good choice.
I would recommend this product to anyone. It works exactly how we expect it to. i have never used the hideaway feature, i dont really see any reason to. It is very sturdy, it does have a little jiggle in it, not how it connects to the bed, but i think where it would fold down if we were to use the hideaway feature, but it doesn't affect it at all. We use this product to cosleep with our daughter. is said to not use under the age of 2, but we have been using it since she was 2 months, she is 10 months now, and never had a problem. it is snug to the bed, and i have never worried abotu her getting lodged inbetween it and the bed, and i have never worried about her suffocating on it or anything. the only problem we had with it was when we moved it got a small hole in it somehow, probably got snagged or something, right on the corner of it. But it's not a huge deal, sometimes my daughter plays with it, but not usually. it hasn't gotten any bigger, and that was over 3 months ago that it happened. we have a queen size bed, and it fits fine. it took me awhile to put together, but i like to do things very meticulously. just make sure to tighten the straps every once in awhile to make sure it still is as tight as possible to the bed. i definitly like this product and dont regret using it.
The Regalo hideaway bed rail does exactly what it claims to do. Assembly was quick and easy although it does take common sense as well as the pictured directions. The rails that go under the mattress stand up about an inch so if your mattress is thin, they might be felt. My mattress has a pillow top on both sides so the rail is easily absorbed by that and it is not felt at all. The slide in feature works well and is very much appreciated when changing the bed or when the side rail is not needed. Two people are needed when it is time to place the mattress back on. If the slide in rail supports are not parallel, the unit won't slide in easily. I am very pleased with this product. It angles in toward the sleeper and there is no gap at the edge.
Just an FYI- this won't work if you have a slat bed (one you don't use a box spring with). Wish we had known this ahead of time. If you have a box spring AND a mattress this rail will be perfect.
Overall this is a good product. I did have an issue with the xtra long model. When I went to zip up the barrier screen it was too tight and the cheap zipper broke. This model had the same zipper, but the fabric was a little looser. So far it's doing it job. We've only had it for three weeks so far, but he's a toddler and pretty rough with it. I did order it thinking it was the xtra long one again, but when I got it shipped to us I figured we'd try the regular length. The size has worked out just fine. For 30 I think that's a fair price to help mom rest a little easier.
We bought this in preparation for our youngest transitioning from a crib to a corner platform bed. It's quite easy to set up. I set it up in about 10 minutes or less. I searched and searched for one that was quite lengthy. I am very pleased with the longer than usual length of this. It fit fell on a toddler size crib mattress and will of course fit even better on a twin. It says it can fit between a box and top mattress too.
Overall, I love this product. The set up instructions were a little difficult, but it works as advertised. It is great for keeping my three year old safe in his big boy bed, yet it folds under the mattress for a nice clean look when not in use. It is easy to stow away and overall, a great product.
We bought this rail for our lower bunk on the bunk bed, but due to the mattress not being on a box spring, we were unable to use it. Huge bummer because we would have liked to have the peace of mind that our little one would not fall out of the bed when transitioning from a toddler bed to the bunk bed.
I purchased this rail for my daughter's 3-in-1 crib. I searched "toddler bed rails" on Walmart's website and this was one of the options. I liked it because it had the option to "hide-away." No where does it state on the website that it doesn't work with cribs or toddler beds, that it only works on "adult" beds. I put it together and then tried to attach it to her crib. Guess I should have read the very first page of the instruction booklet (before assembling) as it says that it doesn't work on toddler beds/cribs. I don't understand why the website would even have rails that couldn't be used on cribs or toddler beds pop up when that is what you are searching for. I ended up returning it to Walmart and ordered one specifically for a crib.....which I am very pleased with. I am sure that this rail is great if you are looking for one for an adult bed.
