The dimensions in the description and everything seemed to be pretty accurate. The unit is sturdier than I expected. I did buy it to keep cats from getting outdoors, but the bars were just wide enough to let them squeeze through, so had to add some wire fence to the surface. The installation is pretty easy and straight forward too.
When i unboxed this safety gate i thought i'm gonna have to try to return it because the gate with the lock was only 33 inches and i needed 40 inches i checked the description again and opened the tools good thing i did it was the long screws that has solved my problem. It came with an extension gate which i have to set aside. Kids have figured out how to open the first lock just by pulling the bar up but i keep telling my mom and sibling not to let them see how to slide the red thingy that secures the first lock. It's 30 inches high, 31 inches high with the stabilizer underneath the gate. It's pretty sturdy and easy to assemble. I highly recommend it.
I bought this for a 59" opening to keep my dog out of 1 room. It's worked well. No problems opening & closing the gate. I think it was a good price in comparison. We did have to screw it into the wall which took about 25 min & my husband was getting frustrated. But he didnt want to "have" to adjust it (didnt read the directions BEFORE starting on it). I think it wouldve taken about 15 min otherwise. Does well for the dog. I honestly cant answer about kids; we don't have little children pulling on it. The "gate" opening isnt very wide. I dont know think a person 300lb+ would be able to get through it. But a small to average person can. We are on the larger side of average. I'd buy another if I needed a second one & I'd recommend it.
I cant say I love the lever. Iâm using mine to keep my dogs off one side of the house. You have to slide one thing then lift the lever. For kids itâs baby proof but I pass through often and it takes too much time. Just give me a button to push. However, it does confirgure well for walls that are not directly across from each other. Each panel can turn.
We recently received our baby gate because our 11 month old was all over the place. We have stairs that lead down to the den where he plays all the time so it was definitely time to invest in one. We ordered this one for the top of the stairs. the installation took about 30 mins and looked good when completed. My husband's only complaint was the screws didn't seem like they could withstand the use and the opening to the gate is quite small. He's a big guy so he says he has to maneuver through the opening. Overall for the price I'd recommend this gate!
Good, solid gate. The only issue I have is that when using the extension to fit my hallway, it makes the gate door skinny and hard to get through when carrying things. Also, it anchors into the wall.
The gate is supposed to fit a wide range of space(ours was 46") and was wide enough to fit our space but we had to cut off some of the extra bar from the extension to keep it from sticking out into the walk through space! That's something that was never mentioned in the instructions and that we were not expecting to have to do. However, compared to the gate we previously bought and returned this gate is much more sturdy! It works properly and is all we expected it to be once we did our own engineering to get it up with the extension issue! I really wish we would have just spent more money on a gate and not had to mess with cutting the pieces because if we ever need to move it to a larger space it won't work.
I bought this for an opening that is 49" it did not fit and the extension piece is another $20...2nd is the opening for the gate is a little small..and 3rd holding a toddler trying to go through with the lock is a little hard because you have to unlock the lever and lift it at the same time so its not convenient.
Item was very cheaply made. In fact ours was defective. You could thread in one of the edges. We returned it for the more expensive one made by a different company.
Decent quality for the price compared to other metal gates. Is NOT extendable to 59" as advertised. Maybe it reaches 50". If you extend it to the max, there's a huge gap that a small child or dog could easily fit (or worse get caught) in. I returned it because it was not "as promised/as advertised". I lost my $4.95 shipping cost when it wasn't my fault.
