My wife and I have been building up a collection of these for a few years now. We move often and these containers, especially the clear ones are far superior to cardboard boxes. The Roughnecks are far more durable during the act of moving, and upon arrival, function well as storage containers. No matter how well you mark a box, the ability to simply see inside will help you find all those loose kitchen utensils. I can't say enough; buy these.
Arrived on time and were as expected. The roughnecks are heavier duty and don't show white stress marks like the cheaper ones. Ordered the clear so I can see quickly what is in them, but they do come in blue as well. Top clips on to secure the top and stack really well. Will order more if needed.
I bought a pack of four of these bins for a great price $50 they are ususlly $15 each at other places. I received them as promised in shipping for a low price as well. I love these bins they come in handy for storage and last long..durability. Wal-Mart did good with their offer.
You get what you pay for. Rubbermaid is kind of pricey, but long term, this storage container is the one you want. Durable and reliable.
I bought 6 sets of those so 24 total to move out instead of boxing everything, because I have hands and shoulders' injuries and don't want to be carrying cardboard boxes awkwardly as we all know. Best deal out there, cheaper than Amazon on this item.
I bought some of these over a year ago to organize tools/equipment/etc. in my vehicle which takes a huge amount of abuse and passes it onto the contents. Only problem is the lids aren't clear, although my friend somehow has a clear lid on one of his. Recently I needed more/different sizes and went on a mission ordering clear totes w/ clear lids from every other maker (Starlite, Iris, you name 'em), and in less than 2 months they've all broken. So, all I need is these Roughnecks (or anyhing just as tough) BUT with CLEAR lids! Like I said my friend has one with a clear lid so I know they were made at some point - please let me know how to get them! Cheers, Graydon
Good purchase. Sturdy, clear enough to see contents. Only draw back are the lock(ing) lid clips/handles. They are not hinged/attached. They literally have to be taken on/off and are not easy to remove or put back on. Great so you don't have to worry about them coming open or the lids coming off, but not great trying to open and close the totes.
These fit perfectly in many utility shelves. You can fit two per shelf. The locking mechanism on each end of the lid has come off a few times, but they snap back on. I wish these tubs were made more like the rubbery material Rubbermaid uses or that there was a 16.5 gallon version of those, but the tradeoff is that you can see what's in these while they're closed.
I purchased 20 of these Clear Roughnecks in various sizes after there was water damage in my storage unit and everything had to be repacked. They look nice, the ability to stack them was good, and I was okay with buying clear instead of the normal colored roughneck. The sad thing is, they are nothing like the other roughnecks. I've packed tons of stuff in the regular roughnecks and never had a issue with the container breaking or the lid popping off. Every single lid popped off these Clear Roughnecks as soon as I picked them up to move them. It's almost like the lip on the lid lock isn't deep enough to hold when the container is loaded. It's fine if you've packed light items such as linens in them. But not for packing dishes, glassware, books or other heavier items. Unforunately, I had to find this out after I had all 20 packed with my stuff and was closing them up to re-store them. I'm very disappointed and now have to make two trips back to the store: 1: to buy better containers and repack everything and 2: to take these inferior products back. Guess it wouldn't be that big of deal if it wasn't a 50 mile round trip.
A roughneck clear cracks and breaks when left out, I presume from light, even though no direct sunlight hit this container. I used this container for one season as temporary grey water tank from shower, thence pumping to trees. Brittle and landfill fodder now.
