I bought this a month ago & it's been great. Slide top to keep opening covered when not in use. Great because it keeps dust & pet hair out of the shredder. I can shred whole pieces of mail that is folded with cards in it. Great buy.
This is by far the best shredder (for personal use) I've owned. Does exactly what it is advertised to do. Very satisfied with this purchase.
It does shred 16 pieces of paper at a time. The container for the shredded paper is at least 3 times larger than any other home shredder I've had. It pulls out for easy dumping. Also, it's quite quiet, shreds CDs and credit cards.
Replaced our old Royal shredder with this one and are very pleased with it. It is much quieter and we like the window that shows how full it is. I like the lid that slides up to shred. It looks neater.
This is a great little shredder that fits underneath my desk. It works very well without any hesitations or jamming. I like the cover feature that hides the opening until you are ready to use the machine.
I spent two days on a shredding binge (3 years of business and personal). It worked great! Only problem, i had to keep emptying the bin!!! Now have 9 trash bags full of shredded material!!
I am very pleased with the Royal 1600MX 16-Sheet Cross Cut Paper Shredder. Overall it's very quiet compared to smaller more inexpensive shredder, paper is cut into very small rectangular shapes. Other cross cut shredders I have seen cut documents into a diamond shape. The Royal 1600MX can easily manage 16-sheets of paper, I recommend shredding unopened envelopes [junk mail] separately. The one drawback is the shredder states, bin is full and stops shredding, when the bin is only one-half full. You can push the paper in the bin down and shred more documents, but the machine will quickly stop again, until the 3/4 full bin is emptied.
Good shredder, runs quieter than our old one. Also slower and a little more difficult to feed paper and to dump the basket. Does a great job of shredding into small pieces.
This shredder is quieter than my former machine made by FELLOWES. WHEREAS FELLOWES strongly advises LUBRICATING the cutters, ROYAL advises AGAINST lubricating.
Purchased the product in June. Went to use it a second time and the wheel fell off. Twice my girlfriends fingers got too close because the product now rocks when using it. I called Royal customer service and they would not replace the wheel. They will only offer replacement parts under warranty for 30 days after purchase. Based upon this policy, they don't expect their products to last for more than 30 days!. Regardless of the value, I will not purchase another Royal product of any type. I am taking the time to write this review so nobody has to experience this kind of poor customer service from a Sam's vendor.
