After returning another typewriter (USA made, different company) which was immensely disappointing, I am so happy to report this Royal Classic was truly a quality item. Made of metal, rather than plastic, all the keys worked without sticking - everything worked superbly!!! Wish I had gone local Walmart the first time.
I absolutely love this! It is sturdy and beautiful. It is important to remember that this is not a laptop or computer keyboard, it take a different skill set to use, but I absolutely love it!!!
Typing like I remember-the real deal! First one I received had a fatal flaw----but Walmart quickly facilitated a return and shipped a new one that is PERFECT! If you like retro-you'll love this!
This looks like an ok typewriter - it is metal, but there is no dust/travel cover, so will need to be used only at home.
It seems well constructed, and has an attractive type font. However, it is not an easy touch. I had to return mine because I have arthritis in my hands, and it was too hard for me to push down the keys to type freely. I will add that my teen son loved it and would have been happy to keep it.
Liked the typewriter but did not come with storage case as is clearly stated in description. This is why I selected this one. I wanted a case. Problem is being looked into
I have typed on manuals for years. This is hard to type on. It is hard to keep even strokes. The typewritten letters are fuzzy on the paper, partially dark and partially light. There is a lever for Hard or Light strokes. The lever won't stay in place. I got it to type 1099 forms. It will probably be OK but will look like a child typed them.
I liked this typewriter but the first ribbon didn't work as long (though it worked for about 3 months) as another typewriter I have. The second ribbon (though new with packaging), barely worked at all! I only wrote about a paragraph, and then it was so faded I could barely read it! I am disappointed with the ribbon.
They should know that the keys stick. I was lucky to type 5 words a minute as I had to manually bring back each key after typing each letter.
It said it came with a protective case but it was in a cardboard box. There was no case. Some of the keys stick to the ribbon. The letter p sticks the worst. The ribbon seems to be old and type is barely visable. Beautiful to look at but isnt a good buy. Hoping to get a replacement that actually works and has the case.
